The Shape of Things to Come is a work of science fiction by H. G. Wells, published in 1933, which speculates on future events from 1933 until the year 2106. In the book, a world state is established as the solution to humanity's problems.
The Shape of Things to Come was written as a future history. Seen in retrospect, it can be considered as an alternative history, diverging from reality in late 1933 or early 1934, the point of divergence being US President Franklin D. Roosevelt's failure to implement the New Deal and revive the US economy and Adolf Hitler's failure to revive the German economy by rearmament. Instead, the worldwide economic crisis continues for thirty years, concurrently with the war.

Men Like Gods (1923) is a novel — referred to by the author as a "scientific fantasy" — by H. G. Wells.
The novel is set in the summer of 1921. Its protagonist is Mr. Barnstaple (his first name is either Alfred or William), a journalist working in London and living in Sydenham. He has grown dispirited at a newspaper called The Liberal and resolves to take a holiday. Quitting wife and family, he finds his plans disrupted when his and two other automobiles are accidentally transported with their passengers into "another world," which the "Earthlings" call Utopia.

Yes they that's probably what caused the confusion. These 2 books were not free when I originally listed the books but went free yesterday so I thought they were worthy of another post I dare say give it a day or two and the entire collection will go back to charge . :smile:

Are these versions any good? How do they compare to Winehouse classics etc?
It's all public domain now no? I have so many different copies of classic novels. I know some kindle editions can be better than others (e.g. formatting and typos etc.)
