Three have been offering free Tube WiFi for their customers for a while now, but the terms say you must have "used data on our network in the last 30 days".
Now that they're offering the free Data Reward SIMs (the ones that give 200MB a month with no need to top up), you could shove one of those in your tablet, "use" some of the free data once a month, and that'll activate you for the unlimited free WiFi on the Tube! No top up necessary :)
Register for the free Tube WiFi through the My3 account on your tablet.

Three network is crap in London after they started Volte or voice over LTE that I just left them for Ee. They have no 4g bandwidth left for data after they started HD voice or Volte . What is the use of these gimmicks like overseas data when you cannot even use the phone properly in London. I won't recommend anyone getting this unless you are inside the tube station all the time. I have free tube WiFi from virgin but I cannot use it as one tube starts moving it is not a big available. Only available if you sit inside same tube station for long time.

Aah yes. But it's worthwhile to send a quick message to update someone of your status is you're meeting up with friends.
It'll be long time before we see wifi in the tube itself.

A number of networks provide this, EE, Vodafone, Virgin, Three, only O2 dont as they have a rival network. The service is provided by Virgin and I tend to use when on Tube and you get into a station. While on the line its useless.

Good to know. Thanks OP. I actually use Virgin to get free wifi and I'm probably about to leave Three after being kicked off of the original One Plan. I just got my Reward SIM a few days back.

Guess depends which part of London you're in.
I normally get good 4G signal with 3 in inner London.

Just gone over to EE. Three far too intermittent in terms of signal and no longer offer rates which are competitive enough to keep me. Asides as has already been said, most operators offer wifi on the tube over Virgins network. Cold from me

You just have to register once with one of the providers (3,o2,virgin etc) and you can still connect to and use the wifi even if you change sims

No, the whole point of this is a way of getting it free if you're NOT a Three customer. By thinking about ID piggybacking on Three, you're over thinking it.

Don't suppose you know when the 200MB resets? I haven't had the chance to put mine in anything and was wondering if they all reset on the same fixed day or if it depends on the activation of each SIM.
