also when buying at John Lewis if you scan your card then your receipts, guarantee and warranty is stored online in your account so even if you lose your paper receipt you still have proof of purchase

didn't they change this so you have to prove you were a genuine John Lewis customer?

It's not guaranteed any more I'm afraid. It used to be - one a month originally!
But they've back-tracked and cut back until nobody quite knows what criteria they use for sending them out. It's very hit-and-miss.
But I agree - doesn't hurt to be in with a chance. You'd be very unlucky not to get at least one on sign-up.

If my family is any gauge, everyone got the drink and cake voucher for use in January, but over the last year I'm fairly sure we averaged about 50% of the voucher mailing having the same deal (some one mailing, some the next) with other useless vouchers mixed in between.

I'd echo what others are saying - years ago it was regular as clockwork, now it's rare as hen's teeth. Can't remember the last time they sent any vouchers. I wouldn't bother.

Yep, can't remember the last time we got anything through and we spend quite a bit in John Lewis - just the last 3 months include a Galaxy S6 and Mulberry purse as big ticket items, plus plenty of other Christmas items.
In fact, just last weekend I overheard a lady who has just bought something saying she forgot to use her John Lewis card and could the points be put on. The staff member quite openly said she wouldn't be losing out because 'it isn't a rewards system, it's just for targeted marketing and digital copies of receipts'.

Yep,they've been a bit stingy.
Last time they send me only one voucher, which was suppose to last for about 6 months.:disappointed:
Considering also that I have to opt in to receive all their junk emails.:disappointed:
