Lazarus is a futuristic Game of Thrones with a wonderful lead female, written by Greg Rucka who is well known for writing some brilliant Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman comics.
Saga is Star Wars-esque, detailing a galactic war between two factions, as told from the POV of two soldiers from either side who come together. It's from Brian K Vaughan, who previously wrote the amazing Y The Last Man and Ex Machina, but others may know from writing on Lost for a few seasons.
I really cannot recommend both books highly enough, they are examples of some of the very best writing in comics nowadays, right up there with Black Science, my personal favourite. There has been talk of both being picked up for movie or TV adaptations for a while now so this might be a chance to jump on board before they become "mainstream".
