I'd never heard of this one but the trailer, reviews and recent player recommendations on Steam have just got me hook line and sinker... Maybe cause it threw out eighties Stranger Things vibes and that's just around the corner... Or maybe just cause I'm old
ABOUT:
“Stories Untold” is a narrative-driven experimental adventure game, that bends the genre into something completely unique. Combining a mix of classic text-adventure, point-and-click and more, 4 short stories are packaged together into a single mysterious anthology that has been described as “a fantastic, fascinating example of interactive visual storytelling” (Telegraph 5/5) and earning widespread critical acclaim since release.
The game pulls together 80s retro nostalgia, innovative and experimental genre-defying gameplay, and tense, phycological horror to create “one of the most fascinating and unique tales you can play this year” (GameSpew 9/10).
The first Episode “The House Abandon” is now available for free via a demo, to give you a glimpse of what is in store in the full game.
“Stories Untold” was developed by No Code, a Glasgow based ex-AAA development team headed up by Jon McKellan (Alien: Isolation) and Omar Khan.
Features:
- Four unique stories, with their own settings, gameplay and mechanics. - Play mind-bending text adventures, process radio transmissions and conduct experiments on bizarre artifacts - Gorgeous retro-aesthetic brings back vivid memories, or a glimpse into what was. - Sublime synth-wave horror soundtrack, inspired by 80s horror soundtracks. - Achievements to unlock, and narrative secrets to discover - Genre-hopping: from psychological horror, to tense mystery and terrifying sci-fi; Stories Untold is truly “4 stories, 1 nightmare”.

This looks pretty interesting. Certainly worth the price of a pack of Pringles.

Call me cheap but I'll only pick up Pringles when they're £1.00 :joy: it does look interesting though, the unanimous praise it seems to be getting has piqued my interest for sure!

This was in last month's Humble Monthly. Yet to play it but looks interesting with the old school text adventure system.

Been looking forward to this highly rated game to drop. Played the first episode. Worth it already! Like the system requirements say, lights off, headphones on!

It's a really good game, only the first episode is scary. 2 and 3 are more interesting with puzzles and episode 4 is terrible haha

Heat added, because not only is it a text adventure- which I used to love, they've included a picture of a Spectrum +2, which has sent the nostalgia factor into overdrive!

bleh, I'm a BIG retro fan, but I did not like this at all - played the first part (which I realise I could have got as the demo) and it did not draw me in at all - refunded...

Yeah...I took the precaution of playing the demo, and I didn't think it was very good. It's more of a "concept" than a game.

Bought and completed in a few hours. Loved it, just goes to show you don't need amazing graphics to have a great game. Nostalgic 80s bliss.
