I tried everything to create a Very account, but I have always the error saying "Sorry, but we have been unable to approve your application for a Veryaccount
Sorry, but your application for a credit account has been unsuccessful."
I tried to fill the forms in different ways (as Student, as a Full-time employee, etc.) but always the same error message...

The Mario Odyssey bundle is no longer available. It's still possible to get 20% off the other bundles (Zelda, MK8 etc.) but you need to ring up - being polite and not sounding entitled will get you far.

Thanks for posting this.
This is going to be another anti-Very post. I'm not hating on the company, but feel I should share my experience.
After seeing this post, I decided to bite the bullet and order from Very despite the many negative experiences shared here. Firstly, the discount wasn't working for me. So I phoned up their customer service team, who stated that the department for applying discount codes were not in at the moment, and that I should phone back Monday. OK fine, no problem. But then on Sunday, I received an email from Very saying that I had made a purchase and that I had been charged full price! I definitely did not authorise the payment at all. I immediately phone Very, and the advisor stated that the initial colleague I spoke to went ahead and placed the order without my authorisation! I stated that this is unacceptable and a very poor experience as a first time customer. The advisor stated that if I call back on Monday, the discount team could at least apply the 20% code.
Its Monday now and I've just got off the phone with the Very team. The call lasted 1 hour 20 minutes... Still no discount applied. The advisor said its not working on her end and that she has emailed a separate team to sort it out. Also, she was unable to tell me if the order was placed on Buy Now pay 3 months, 6 months or 12 months later!
In all fairness, she tried to do what she could help. But as a whole, my customer experience with Very has been terrible. I'll see what sort of discount I can get out of them for this mess, but I don't see myself as a returning customer.

First time using Very - my experience so far:
19.10 - Opened a Very account and placed the order. Nowhere on any of the order screens was I asked to enter a promo code.
19.20 - Called Very customer service (thankfully a freephone number) and explained the situation. The lady I spoke to was really helpful, asked for the code and put me on hold. She then came back to me and explained she had applied the code to my order and it would work as a credit to my account so would show on my first statement.
20.15 - Logged in and checked the 'My Account' section. Balance now showing as £300.98 so at this point I realised that only a £33 discount had been applied instead of £66. Contacted customer service again and spoke to a different lady. She confirmed that only a 10% discount had been applied and told me to hold whilst she spoke with a different department. I waited. She came back and asked me to confirm the promo code again. I did. She put me on hold and then cut me off about 5 minutes later.
20.30 - Called straight back (furious at the fact I'd been cut off for no reason but maintained a positive approach). I spoke to a guy this time and explained the situation then he put me on hold. He came back and said that the code I had provided (LXJGR) expired on 29th September. I told him I was looking at the website where it clearly states it expires on 13/11/17 and then I was put on hold again. This time he came back and advised that it's only a 10% discount which applies because it's an electrical item. I told him it's not classed as electrical as it's a different department and I know of others who have been able to purchase the same item with the 20% discount applied (on this website). This call lasted for 55 minutes going backwards and forwards with the same argument waiting for his Supervisor to get off the other line so he could assist.
The result: he's going to check with his Supervisor and call me back before 23.00 tonight.
Do I believe him? Probably not. He was a really nice guy and not rude in any way but he couldn't solve my query so it looks like I'll be wasting even more of my time and calling back tomorrow to cancel the order.

Good point! The pros for the bundle is the two red controllers (only if you think it is better than 2 grey or a blue and a red one) and the cons about £2.50 more expensive and a code for the game instead of the physical copy.

At what point do you enter the code?! I'm just checking to see if I can get the 20% off a gaming laptop and I'm having to enter a ton of information about myself (just shy of blood type).

4 Oct 17#67
I was being sarcastic yes.
I didn't need help understanding how things work, like I said I tried based on other people saying it works for them. My Very account has always been paid off once I have used a code on the credit scheme and it would have been no different in this case. I didn't use a random name I used my full name rather than the shortened version that is used on my existing Very account.
It didn't work for me, I asked a question, got no answers, end of.
JohnnyRoller
4 Oct 17#66
I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic.... The Sainsbury's comment was to help you understand that you can't just create numerous (random name) credit accounts... (Like you can with companies like Sainsbury's) as there is no borrowing involved.
There was no anger in my comments, if anything I was surprised you actually tried opening a credit account in an incorrect name. Even more so now you are saying that you understand how a credit check works......
My mind is blown on the extent people will go to save money.
Cantona007

skeemerd
4 Oct 17#64
I obviously do, otherwise I would have been on the Sainsbury's website. Yes I do know how a credit check works, as I said I tried to make an account after reading others had made other accounts with different names and was curious if it worked. I use this site to try and get the best deal possible on things so why shouldn't I give it a go as well?
I personally think you need to calm down and put your anger towards something worth while rather than worrying about what I am doing.
JohnnyRoller
4 Oct 17#63
Well you obviously don't know the difference that well do you? Do you even know how a credit check works?
That's like me trying to get credit cards and loans in a random made up name... I would go as far to say that it is borderline indentity fraud. If you enter incorrect data on purpose for borrowing purposes, which is what you were trying to do.

4 Oct 17#59
I don't get why people struggle to comprehend this. the whole "promo" is an offer to get you to open a credit account - you can't do it more than once (you could probably try) as they will have a record of your credit account on file. besides which, do you really want multiple credit account applications on your credit profile?
make use of the promo once for a big purchase, then move on with your life. :face_with_monocle:
and just because you haven't had any issues doesn't mean the vast majority haven't. Their 1 star review on Trust Pilot says it's all.

ffs this company
I tried this deal, didn't get the 20% off, so called them to try and rectify this error. Was told that I had an account back in 2010, but never made an order on it; so that's what caused the problem. They said they can't offer me the 20%, so I canceled the order, then requested to have the credit account closed down and the contract voided. Woman didn't seem to understand what I asked, as she closed down my basic account for the site, but had no idea about a credit contract. Had to call 3 different times with the same results until somebody finally put me through to their finance team, where a woman said she's voided the contract and will send me confirmation by post in the next 28 days. I doubtful of this, but we'll just have to wait and see. Be very careful (pun intended).
Joehawkins609

Yeah you can pay the balance off straight away without penalty, I've done it loads of times!

I had issues when I ordered something (my fault), for the first time a few months back, and they fixed it for me. True there is a poor method of contacting them. But it’s not that bad.
I've never had an issue with them, they even went above and beyond to clear a default on my credit record when I didn't realise that delivery payments aren't included in BNPL and I defaulted on £3.99.

This isn't a duplicate Sainsbury's account you can just create.... Obviously they will reject a different name, this requires a credit check and a credit account to be opened. The only way you can get a second account is in a relative or partner's name who is happy to open a Very credit account...

I got the same. I think it's because the 20% off is only for credit orders. i.e. you open a Very account with £750 credit on the account. I think it's because they've matched my previous address or mobile number.
The whole credit thing isn't a practice I like (I'm sure Next do the same) but 20% off is still tempting.

I couldn't recommend a Very deal to anyone. Absolutely the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I ordered a copy of Dark Soul's 3 a few years ago to be delivered to a local store for collection, in which I needed identification and a code sent to my email address (from the courier, but via Very). The code they sent me was incorrect and multiple customer service agents either refused or didn't actually know what it was (giving me the order number). In the end I had to contact the courier directly who verified the number was incorrect and I wouldn't have got a refund if it was sent back after 10 days to the retailer because of this mistake (this is something Very does often because of the way they take preorders). It's not worth the risk.

I can't see the add code bit? or do you have to do it through the Very credit bs survey thing?

Ooh, I could just get the black version of the console with no game doing this. Then buy the cartridge version of the game separately. Saves some money, saves space on the console and I get the console now :muscle:

Another Very post, another complaint. I have used Very three times now, Classic SNES for ~£50, Zelda and 1-2 Switch on launch ~60 and now this. The codes they offer are ridiculous and it's easily the reason I've managed to afford to get so much for my system. Absolutely zero issues.

Got my MK8 Switch bundle from Very with similar deal, no problems at all, well worth it if you plan to pay it off in one go
Opening post
Apologies if this or something similar has been already been posted, but...
20% off when opening a very account. can pay in 3 months (take 3) to avoid interest or pay all off at once after adding order to your account.

Sorry, but your application for a credit account has been unsuccessful."
I tried to fill the forms in different ways (as Student, as a Full-time employee, etc.) but always the same error message...
May I ask does Very have a live chat system? I cant find it but peopel say they have it
Live chatted them, they couldnt tell me why, order cancelled.
Disgrace.
fingers crossed you get this sorted soon and that I don't have a similar experience a lot of others have.
Guess they changed it..... I ordered one anyway for my son for xmas
My console with no games was knocked down by £56 to £224 for example and arrived today with my order still showing I bought at the 20% off price.

Tried opening a new account with different email address. Then I click through to apply for the very account expecting a credit check to come through but it just loads my original account with a new updated email address?
Anyone had issues with this.
Tried to remake the order and now the code will not work at all as its only for your first order
Customer services are now ignoring me
This is the FIRST and LAST time i ever use very.co.uk
Honestly the worst retail experiance of my entiar life
Absolutely awful customer service.
I was purchasing the EXACT same item?
Maybe an error on there part? Unsure but you can see the amount in image above
And then apply the 20% off ?
So I've cancelled entering my info before I sign up for something I'm not actually interested in. All I want to know is if I can use this code on a specific laptop
Funny thing is that they're so useless they ended up screwing it up and on top of my refund, I made £20 out of them overall!
Definitely in my top three of worst customer services ever and they'd be number one if I hadn't ended up in profit
There was no anger in my comments, if anything I was surprised you actually tried opening a credit account in an incorrect name. Even more so now you are saying that you understand how a credit check works......
My mind is blown on the extent people will go to save money.
That's like me trying to get credit cards and loans in a random made up name... I would go as far to say that it is borderline indentity fraud. If you enter incorrect data on purpose for borrowing purposes, which is what you were trying to do.
make use of the promo once for a big purchase, then move on with your life. :face_with_monocle:
Are we just randomly quoting things now?
You can also spread it across 3 months interest free, so £90 or so per month via 3 direct debits which is nice.
I was just following other peoples instructions from other Very deals on HUKD that say they have got many accounts in different names and didn't know if it worked for anyone else, or I if anyone has managed to get the account closed earlier than the 6 months they suggested.
True there is a poor method of contacting them. But it’s not that bad.
They're pretty awful.
They also told me it takes 6 months to close the account which I find ridiculous.
By the sound of things I've dodged a bullet anyway, and have a One X arriving next month anyway.
I think it's because the 20% off is only for credit orders. i.e. you open a Very account with £750 credit on the account.I think it's because they've matched my previous address or mobile number. The whole credit thing isn't a practice I like (I'm sure Next do the same) but 20% off is still tempting.
Then recently created a new account to preorder SNES Mini with £30 back on a £60 spend code (£49.99 + £3.99 p&p)
SNES Mini is great :nerd:
But in the past you could have had it for £251 (Amazon) + £37 (Amazon & Tesco) for Mario.
