Great price for a GTX 1070 laptop. No HDD but a decent sized SSD
Should have the grunt to play maxed-out AAA games for a good couple of years

Now this is a better laptop than that other crap earlier, for not THAT much more.

Do you happen to know what type of screen is used in this one? I've heard it's a (decent) TN

"Should have the grunt to play maxed-out AAA games for a good couple of years"... Trust me it won't. I have a similar spec desktop PC without the HQ processor and the underclocked GPU and it struggles with some games already when maxed out... And that's just at 1080p.
Good price, voted hot but I would probably want to wait for the next generation of GPU before dropping over a grand on a laptop.

Hence why i wrote "should" instead of "will"

Out of interest, what games struggle?

Quake Champions, Star Wars Battlefront 2 Beta, Mass Effect Andromeda, Dark Souls 3 and even Overwatch have to have the settings dropped from max/ultra or tweaked to get steady frame rates at all times.
There are a few others I can't think of off the top of my head too these are just the ones where I've thought "wtf"... Especially battlefront and overwatch as they run smooth AF (albeit on lower settings but on much inferior hardware) on my PS4.
It could be optimisation though because games like Prey, Mad Max, Lords of the Fallen, DOOM, The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind, the latest Deus Ex etc run at 60fps+++ maxed out at 1080p.

Well, this simply isn't true.
My 2600K and 980 Ti spare build runs 1080p, battlefront beta 2 at 120-200fps at all times ultra. Overwatch np either, not played the others.

Out of interest...what overclock on the 2600k?

I can run it at 5ghz stable, but gets a bit toasty so I just dropped it to 4.7 for now as I don't use it often only my mates do when they come over.

I doubt it's about lying, just more, you are doing something wrong, lol.

Something must be terribly wrong as that isn't right.
Check out this video here for example -
Steve is getting at 1080p Ultra settings:
Overwatch - 1% minimum of 201 FPS and an average of 252 FPS Quake Champions - 1% minimum of 162 FPS and an average of 223 FPS Mass Effect Andromeda - 1% minimum of 70 FPS and an average of 85 FPS
Might be your CPU or RAM bottlenecking the graphics card, what are your total specs?
As for the above deal - Hot from me but my one complaint would be the screen, 1080p/60 seems underspeced for a PC of this power, It would have been nice to see a higher frequency or resolution.

It's the Lenovo Y700.
Lenovo IdeaCentre Y700-34ISH Core I5-6400 8GB 1TB GeForce GTX 1070. But I've put an additional 8gb (matching pair DDR4-2133) in it.
I've had it less than 6 months. I thought it may have been something to do with the launchers as Steam games run fine.
I'm also considering getting SSD in the next few weeks and doing a fresh install as I thought it may be HDD bottlenecking it.. But waiting until I finish Andromeda first :sunglasses:

Sounds like an optimisation issue imho - especially with Overwatch. Frostbite is generally pretty efficient as game engines go, so Battlefront 2 should be flying on a 1070. Then again it is a beta build so might not be running as smoothly as it could.
Also, the fact you have Deus Ex running @ 60fps+ shows just how powerful the 1070 is. It's an absolute monster of a game to run on full settings!

Possibly. As soon as I've finished Mass Effect I'm going to do a format as I've not done once since buying pre built. That may sort things out. Like I said earlier I will prob throw an SSD in the mix too as the hdd may very well be a bottleneck for some of these.
I do think you're right about battlefront though, it flew on my ps4 but ran like it was in molasses on the PC. Weird.

Yes, I think it is. Good quality though, apparently.

Can vouch for the quality of the build. I'd assume it's going to be the same as their Erazer X7847 that I had briefly. Very well built and the screen while not brilliant wasn't terrible either.
