Here is a lovely little Italian trip using buses, ferries and trains. I've included all the prices for ferries and trains but you don't need to book these in advance, but if you did want to, which I recommend for the Rome to Salerno leg, these go on sale 90 days before.
26-28 June You will fly to Rome early morning and spend two nights in Rome, close to St peter's Basilica.
28 June-1 July You will catch the train to Salerno from Rome (direct around 2 and half hours) which is very close to the Amalfi coast and is ideal for exploring as the ferry is nearby. It's only 25 mins to Amalfi and the Salerno accommodation is also on the coast. You will spend 3 nights in Salerno. There are at least 8 ferries per day between Salerno and Amalfi/Positano so it is a good place, and a lot cheaper than Sorrento.
1-3 July You will check out and then catch the ferry to Amalfi and then bus to Sorrento (you can get the ferry to Amalfi and then onto Sorrento but it will be more expensive). In Sorrento you'll stay for 2 nights right in the centre at the Hotel Nice which includes free breakfast.
3-5 July You'll catch the train from Sorrento to Naples which doesn't need to be booked in advance. In Naples you'll spend 2 nights, enough time to visit Pompeii and Vesuvius which is easily done on train/bus. You'll leave on 5th July.

Not sure about Naples as much, but Sorrento, Positano, Capri, Amalfi etc makes a lush holiday! Locals are so friendly, totally safe to walk around, nobody is a drunken lout like in the UK

Is it any cheaper if 4 of us would like to travel, or would we have to book 2 rooms instead in every place? Thank you

Best thing to do is to look at different places to stay depending on if there is children or just all adults as you may get better deals. The only thing I'll say is I did read all the reviews and check ratings and location of all the places in this deal to make sure they were ideally placed for public transport/getting about so this maybe something to consider when you're looking for places to stay.
