Spotted this bargain getaway whilsy looking for a cheap getaway for my folks; this is a bit far to travel from the grim north for a night or two but thought I'd share for anyone who lives within a few hours drive of Dorset. Overnight stays at Maritime Hotel on the Jurassic Coast's Isle of Portland, 20 minutes' drive from Weymouth, are now £69, saving up to 44% on the usual price. What's Included Overnight accommodation for two in a Standard King room* Full English breakfast (worth £12.95 per person) 2-for-1 on all cocktails (between 3pm-6pm, 8pm-10pm) It's £149 for a 2-night stay with daily breakfast and a 3-course dinner (worth £28.90 per person) on the first night, available seven days a week A King Room with Sea View is an extra £20 per night (payable direct to the hotel)
Why We Love It
Maritime Hotel is on the blissfully secluded but easily reached Isle of Portland, 20 minutes' drive from Weymouth
The hotel was a former Admirality Underwater Weapon Establishment -- a naval building where defence weapons were developed and tested
Weymouth, and has panoramic views of the Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site
Portland Bill Lighthouse, for views of the jagged cliffs and English Channel, is 10 minutes' walk from the hotel
Chesil Beach, an 18-mile stretch of shingle beach, is 10 minutes' drive from the hotel

We stayed there last year, yes nice clean hotel inside, from the outside looks completely different as it's an old MOD building.( which attracted us to it) Hotel not an issue as lovely to walk to Portland lighthouse. My issue was that if you don't like or are scared of dogs or have small children it can be a bit intimidating as the owners have 2 huge free roaming dogs inside the hotel/bar restaurant area which approach you. Personally you should have the option to approach the dogs and not the other way. We took our medium sized dog with us and he was scared of them and his not normally like that lucky we was only there for one night. Lastly all the huge dog feaces on the roundabout outside the hotel wasn't very pleasant to view.
