Anyone know how these compare to the ones on Amazon that are similarly priced?

I bought a four blade one from Amazon last year, the fan goes round well but i think these are a gimmick. They don't really do much.If i were to hold a candle in front of it it wont blow out.

I have one of these and it definitely moves the heat around the room. It wouldn't blow a candle out but neither would a radiator!

Is that the type of Wood-Stove that Mr Khan of the capital has stated is to be banned in the very near future

Maybe the ultimate goal is to get people to move away from London, I sure as hell wouldn't want to live there.

You should have kept that to yourself. Londoners have been through enough already without you trampling on their last ray of hope........
The Royal Opera House in particular will be devastated. They were relying on you to bring in the high rollers.......

I think they are doing that anyway with the house prices. I work 50 miles from centre of London and many of people I work with moved from London and started jobs more locally to their new homes.

The fact is that London wages no longer make it economical to live many miles from London and then commute, Wages stagnant, etc. up, so where possible people are getting jobs and housing out of London. Yes some still have to endure standing in a crowded rail car for upto an hour or more, but I believe most would like to change this and also have more time at home.

I bought this Aldi one last year. The fan is weak - spreads the heat no more than 20cm. But it’s useful in that once it’s started you know the fire has reached a reasonably good heat.

How do you know?

Because they start to spin once they heat up.

I meant to say "how do you know it doesn't do anything"

Because that’s how they work - the heat drives the motor and it needs a certain level of heat to get started - around 120C on top of the log burner.

Total gimmick - perfectly fine if that's what you want.
If you really want to move heat and you've got space below/behind the stove then fit a tangential fan - sucks the cold air along the floor and spues warm air out the top.
If not then just use a small desk fan to blow towards/underneath the stove.
This will shift FAR more air than this stupid wee thing.

These work as long as you set them up right and don't expect too much.
They need to be placed towards the back so the heat difference is higher (bigger difference faster fan) and there is more hot air to push around.
They help distribute the heat, but if the ceiling is high and the room is large then it's going to be far less noticeable.
Sure you can run electrical wires near a hot stove, use electricity and risk the fan burning out due to the heat. Or you can get one of these set it up and not have to do a thing.

You wouldn't of course put an electric fan on the stove, ideally a fan assisted tube from the ceiling would pull dead heat down into the living space.
I don't know why people attempt to justify the efficiency of these toys, if you have the money and £25 means nothing to you, just buy it. That's the point of capitalism, to work and to create more toxic landfill. If you can virtue signal along the way, then that's great too

Another hipster gimmick to match your transparent HK speakers, get a 12v fan, £24.99 would pay for its electricity for years if not decades.

What's the return policy of Aldi like? If it doesn't work would they take it back without a fuss?

Wow, who knew a fan would create so much debate?
