2016 model but still seems a good price for a 65" 4K HDR TV from a well known manufacturer.

I got this for £699 during the Prime sales.
Very very good TV for the money, so many features and the 4k does look very good!
The only downside is that the TV can get very slow sometimes, like a few seconds between pressing the Guide button, or going onto the Android Home.

Camel shows this as being the lowest price it's ever been. Odd.
The 55" was at £699 back in Apr, and as low as £584.

Perhaps he means the 55 as 699 for the 65 is ludicrously cheap. However, I'm not sure camels shows lightning deal prices as such deals only last a short period of time.

Well it would save on wallpaper - for one wall at least....

Could you include the model name in the title? It makes all the difference to the value.
This appears to be an XD75, so it's a 120hz IPS panel with minimal HDR ability.

Can't help but be sceptical. Bearing in mind there's no 100Hz 4K panels for monitors yet, I can't imagine Sony have cracked a 65 inch one for TVs?
All of the high end TVs on the market have 100/120hz panels. Rtings tests them, so it's definitely the genuine article.
They can't accept an external 100hz signal to display on them, HDMI 2.0 doesn't have the bandwidth, so it's only for internal use like the motion interpolation system and presumably apps have access too.

Ah okay, so like having a Ferrari limited to 100 BHP then? :stuck_out_tongue:
Curious about it all. Only play on PC so know monitor technology like the back of my hand. I run a 4K 60Hz and 2 1440p 165Hz screens, so know what the high end of high refresh rate gaming is like.
Find it a bit weird how people on consoles think they'll be able to see the difference between 120Hz TVs and 60Hz TVs when their console can only output 60fps in the first place!

With the correct settings turned on the TV invents intermediate frames, so there are 120 different frames being shown every second.
Of course frames that have been guessed at aren't as accurate as those from the game so it can cause artefacts.
It also requires the TV to buffer a frame or two so it knows where the motion is going, which adds a little bit of input lag (an additional 20ms on this model).

Really? Even if you're just sending 1080 down the cable?

HDMI 2.0 has the bandwidth for [email protected], but not that every 120hz TV will accept a [email protected] signal. I think Sonys and LGs do this year, but Samsung's MU7000+ and Q-series don't, and neither does this 2016 Sony.

I remember seeing this at £699 on prime a few months ago, limited stock which was gone in less than an hour. I've been after this 65'' for a while now, maybe this Xmas I'll order it if the price is good.

I think I'm looking for an 8xxx...seems to offer a lot more than the 7xxx for a couple of hundred £ more, but the 9xxx is a fair jump in price. Not sure how last year's models fair against this year's, performance wise for the savings you get....I'm obviously fishing here...

Agree with jnalepa regarding lag. I have the 8series version of 2016 model (50”) Android TV. Ok it’s great that you can get Kodi etc on there but in hindsight I would rather have a separate Android box and have a TV that works as great as a TV.
The TV guide rarely ever loads up with all the info for rest of channels. A slightly delay when changing channels.

Good quality picture for the most part but as others have said the software is terrible for all these Sony android TVs.
I've got a 2016 49" and my parents have a 2016 75" and they both turn off randomly, even worse they turn on randomly throughout the night. Once I thought someone had broken in and I armed myself with a pint glass to defend myself against the TV.
Luckily my parents bought from John Lewis and got there's switched for a different brand but I foolishly went to Curry's and they can't find a fault during testing so refuse to replace or refund.
Other issues include patchy backlight bleeding (not on my parents 75"), incredibly slow interface, don't even bother with youview as that slows things down even more. You disable youview then you lose a lot of the on demand. It's plagued with Sony advertising and security/software updates are next to non existent.
On the positive, Netflix 4k and Kodi work flawlessly.
Save yourself the hassle and get a different brand, I know I will be next.

I remember the Amazon prime deal being £799 because I wasted time opening a prime trial but when I went to purchase the TV it was sold. I have been following 65 inch TVs for a while and certainly would have remembered a 699 Sony

It would be great if there would be an option to get one cheaper just as a panel , without the all smart/android/freeview things:/

All that stuff has a minimal cost. A freeview box is what? £20-30? And the hardware running that on the TV is used for other things, so even that cost will be an over-estimate.
