Any one looking to buy one then please don't.. I have had nothing but problems with it.. Netflix doesn't work.. Chrome cast is temperamental.. And would recommend something else.. Don't waste your money.. Mine will be going on eBay under spares and repair.. Kodi works fine if someone is looking for a box just to use kodi then this is good.. Check the mi box forums for Netflix errors you will find loads of users reporting the issue..

These are okay, but no iPlayer, ITV hub, 4 on demand, 5, uk tv play etc. Can cast it from your phone, but not ideal

why can't you get the apps?

Android TV play store doesn't have them. Don't assume that if you can download them on your phone, you can download them on your android TV device because you can't. I found out the hard way

All the apps you mention do play on it but you have to sideload them as they are not available in the Android Tv version of Playstore on this box. They are easy to install from aptoide though.

Just install terrarium tv. I've watched stuff on there on the same day before it was available on demand on the official apps

5 Sep 17#46
yes , however the itv hub available on aptoide does not work. but you can download that from apk mirror, be warned that you'll be needing to install another app like Hal launcher to set screen orientation to landscape , otherwise it will be locked to portrait mode, and you won't get any where ,btw you'll be needing a Bluetooth keyboard with a touchpad mouse too, otherwise youll find really hard to navigate , and you cant access some features. you can install iplayer too it will work but wont have full functionality in case of navigating, you will need a said key board. downloaded apks can be installed through es explorer

So. Had this device about a month now. Easy to set up, Netflix works fine at 4k (you have to set it up so it's [email protected] Anything less Wont show 4k content. I mainly use Netflix, YouTube and Kodi. No itv player, iPlayer or Amazon video. I use Kodi for iPlayer and itv player and I prefer it to the apps (itv has no ads through Kodi)
2 times it's crashed to a green screen when streaming 1080p from my PC and and the device was hot to the touch. I've raised the device of the TV unit with some 2p coins and it's had no issues since.
Any questions?

You can also watch Netflix 4K and you can sideload TV catchup apps from ITV, Channel 4 and so on. I don't think you can sideload the BBC iPlayer, however that can be used though Plex or Kodi.

I have one of these from a previous deal on here. Mine came with a UK adapter supplied. The play store is very different to the normal phone store, so as previous commentors have stated, don't expect your normal apps. The big plus for this box over a standard android box is Chromecast support - that was the main reason I upgraded to this rather than a fire tv. I actually prefer browsing the app on my phone/tablet and then casting the content to the tv. I have kodi and mobdro installed and they both work fine. I also installed vpn unlimited which also works as expected. I've not played games on it. As a TV box, I'm very happy with it and would certainly recommend it at this price. I also have a firestick but this is much better.

Have one of these actually watching 4k mkv from my NAS at this very moment. Awesome box for my Needsa which are: -Stream 4K MKV contents from my Hp Proliant microserver across my home network. -Stream my Yi 4k+ and 4K panasonic m2TS files home movies I recorded. -Plays everything and 4k @ 60FPS with no struggling at ll.
I will take this box over any other 4K box any day (small size compared to Shield, Shield has amazon prime video but not this)
I also have an Xbox One S and 4K oled Smart TV both already has the Amazon Prime video installed so no requirement for this to be able to play Amazon prime for me.
I am thinking about buying another one of these to use with my Sony 4K TV although running android struggles with my media whereas this box doesn't.
Like I said before, this box is awesome and plays everything I ve ever through at it., Blu-ray rip, 4k rip, HDR files etc.
Don't think , just buy it.

The key part of your statement there was "Awesome box for my Needs", which is the key when trying to choose a product. The fact that you have then demonstrated the functionality based on those needs is great too.

I Didn't get this from Geekbuying but did get it from an ebay seller shipping from , the box was sealed , and the seller had attached a UK Adapter to the outside of the package, it had no fuse. so i reluctantly opened the box and was pleasantly surprised to find it already included a UK plug inside the packaging not an adapter but a 3 pin plug from it seems Xiaomi itself.
I Have Plugged in a portable USB drive to this and it plays 4K content in HDR flawlessly i would say better picture processing than on myTV's media player , i did see a youtube video showing some one using a 4 port usb hub with this , dont know if it will support that many devices though i am not qualified to comment about the power draw supported , may be some one with this knowledge can confirm . cant comment on the Amazon Fire 4k as dont own one Sorry.
yes that has been mentioned in forums , but i can tell you that this goes up to 85 Mbps through Netflix network test through the wifi connection .
btw you can side load an iplayer app but you cannot navigate with out a Bluetooth keyboard and even then its functionality is severely restricted . None of the ITV HUB & All4 or MY5 Apps worked as they were displayed horizontally , but i get them on my TV so no problem

If a ad states UK as an option then i will come with either a dedicated 3 pin adapter or a 2 pin and a converter.

Had the same reservation at first, got the UGREEN usb to ethernet adapter from amazon, works a treat.
Also if you have AC wireless, some test reports you get faster network data transfer over wifi than on ethernet.

My Amazon 4k struggles with 10bit hevc 4k files, can't comment on this mi box as I've never used one
Also no Amazon video on this. You can sideload some version. But it's very buggy. Geekbuying is not the best of companies to buy from.

The point being, you're not tied to Amazon's... rubbish customisation of Android. You get a pure Android TV experience, complete with play store. No sideloading, no downloading .APK files.
Being honest, I owned a Fire Box for a short period before sending it back.

I have to agree there. I’ve never got on with the Fire OS (Don’t have prime so the constant Amazon promo did my nut in). A more pure OS with the Amazon content not taking centre stage would be excellent though.
