I know it's in the weekly Deals with Gold, but I've finally decided to drop on this. There's two days left and I think it's a bit of a bargain, if not the highlight.
Discover the true meaning of fear in Alien: Isolation, a survival horror set in an atmosphere of constant dread and mortal danger. Fifteen years after the events of Alien™, Ellen Ripley’s daughter, Amanda enters a desperate battle for survival, on a mission to unravel the truth behind her mother's disappearance.
As Amanda, you will navigate through an increasingly volatile world as you find yourself confronted on all sides by a panicked, desperate population and an unpredictable, ruthless Alien.
Underpowered and underprepared, you must scavenge resources, improvise solutions and use your wits, not just to succeed in your mission, but to simply stay alive.

I started this but absolutely bottled it. Amazing atmosphere.

Stick with it. Once you overcome the constant dread and get to grips with the game engine (use those decoys!) you start to get into it. The hospital is nails but after that it does get a little easier!

I've just started playing this in VR on the PC using the MotherVR mod. It works surprisingly well and if you think it's jumpy in 2D, it's a whole new level in VR!

Forgot I bought this on PC. Have a vive at work. Is it fully playable with the mod? I thought this was supposed to have vr support built in?!

Currently, it just has Rift support (albeit at alpha - still very much playable though). I believe the developer is working on or planning to work on Vice support too.
It was one of the main reasons I bought a Rift after already owning a PSVR. The recent Curry's PC World deal listed on here made it a very easy decision in the end!

I must be the only person who wasnt scared at all when playing this, I found the Xenomorph quite predictable.. also found the game to be too long.

i think your also the only person to complain about a game being long.

Then I assume that you haven't seen/read any reviews of that game because virtually every review says that the game drags on for too long.

reviews dont really mean anything to me a lot of games i bought have bad reviews but that doesnt mean i think there bad. I dont sit and pick apart games like the reviewers do i prefer to just play them. If im forking out for a game i aint gunna complain if it takes me 3 months to finish it but different strokes for different folks.

I was merely saying that plenty of people are saying that it's a few hours too long. If you don't like reviews, you can check that on Steam too.
I agree that game length doesn't translate to quality. Short or long can be good, but if the game is structured in a way that it makes finishing it a chore, then that's not good (looking at you Mafia 3).

I find many games are too long nowadays, I'd much prefer a game like Journey or Child of Light which even with its secrets you can complete in a reasonable time and spend every moment enjoying than grinding.
I was attacking anyone with my comments though, each to their own isnt it.. if you prefer long games then thats great too.

Pretty much, yes.
It's a great idea for a small 3 hour indie game - but I'm with you. It just dragged on after a few hours and becomes stale pretty quickly. And yes, the alien got very predictable with its smart (not that smart) AI.

I put off playing this game for about 2 years.....really stupid decision. Great game. Can't rate it highly enough. Should've played it on the highest difficulty, but normal was enough for me and my heart couldn't take another play through. The Xenomorph is terrifying. The atmosphere is like the original Ridley Scott. There's no need for the DLC. Adds very little to it. £7.50 is a good price fornthe base game if you can't find a cheaper disc copy. Heat added.

For all its faults it's actually an incredibly good game. It's a bit long and bit repetitive, but creates so much tension. I haven't completed it yet, stopped playing for a while and now I'm too scared to go back. Ah well, I have plenty more games to work through
