Why? He didn't invent the light bulb. Let alone LEDs!

You missed the point entirely. The light shown in the picture takes the memories back to the first incandescent light by TAE. That is why it is depicted as 'vintage'

I think it was you who missed the point, google Joseph Swan
Definitely not national. I was looking at these in the Middlebrook (Bolton) store this afternoon and they most certainly were not £1

Both the box and receipt say 6W on them, so I doubt it...

Picked up 3 of these in Corby store yesterday. They had other sorts as well all for £1. Also some TCP ones that are both warm and cool colour temperatures changed by clicking the switch.

These are nice to look at but useless as incandescent/CFL replacements in many cases because hardly any light comes out of the end.

There were some in the Kilmarnock store at the same price a couple of days ago.

Bought one of these a while ago and tripped the electrics when switched it on. Blew the bulb. Second one has been okay though. Not very bright but good value.

Only had one LED fail in 5 years and couldn't put light circuit back on till found which one it was, halogens usually go open circuit on fail.

Decent light output but I wonder if they even reach 1000 hours, cheap ones randomly failing,
