I have been looking for 32” IPS WQHD 2560 x 1440 resolution for a while and yesterday I found the new Viewsonic VX3211-2K-MHD £235 delivered. It is £327 on Amazon. Seems like a good deal to me.

Can't see it on the site at all, but do you happen to know its refresh rate? no point in buying a 1440 unless its 144 hz imo.

wow thats IPS for £235 and of course its 60Hz, I am not sure how much one can overclock though. Unless you play FPS I dont see why you would need 144Hz for photo editing, movies, programming, office use where you need large screen without scaling up.

it is pretty comfortable at 100% scaling, this replaced a 24" 1920x1200 and feels about the same. At work I have a curved 34" 3440x1440 which is ok, but is comparable and costs 3x more. I also have a 27" 4k which is worse as you have to upscale.

gazza.ladra to Gormond
21 Sep 17#16
The specs say 3 ms (grey-to-grey). Dunno, usually the problem is input lag (which I cannot measure) rather than response time. I am not a gamer, just tried a bit of Mass Effect and the testufo.com/ and seemed ok. There are some gaming settings and modes overdrive etc which I dont have time to play with

To be fair, I'm visually challenged (you could call me one of the lucky ones). With post-800MHz 4K displays I don't notice a difference at all no matter how fast I type the strings of text, its clear. Anything otherwise it just doesn't refresh fast enough. When I'm staring at my still desktop background, it just looks like a freaking slideshow.

I have a 2012 15" Macbook Pro retina laptop. Could I use this to view to 4k video footage? Of course this is not a 4k monitor.
But the screen resolution of the monitor pretty close to the laptop monitor output. Also I think my laptop is regulated at 30 Ghz. Would this be suitable to view and edit 4k footage?
CampGareth to tony70
22 Sep 17#32
You can view 4K footage on any monitor of any resolution and your computer will scale the video. Since this is lower than the resolution of your video some details will not be shown.
Your MacBook can output a 2560x1600 signal at 60Hz, so this monitor will work just fine with it.

Through further investigation I think it's via a company more computers use called Cloud IQ. They offer a service called cartRecovery that sends people who addandon their cart an email. They also store your name, email, IP... from any service that uses them and provide that with third party customers.
So a site I used must have used this service and stored information about me in a cookie and on Cloud IQ's servers. They then used this to send me an email when using another site that uses Cloud IQ... Maybe I should start deleting cookies lol

Haven't opened it yet says nothing about ips on the box I hope it is indeed ips display
Not ips. It's ips type another marketing ploy to fool us. See the specs it's a inferior panel to true ips panel.but should be still better then the TN panel.
gazza.ladra to bharak
22 Sep 17#47
well one may say that all variations of IPS are marketing ploys as they are promoted by different panel manufacturers. What does IPS mean any more? Most likely this is an ADS panel, which is the first time I found existed today, so go figure. Also TN has also gone long way in the last few years so the differences are smaller nowadays. For the curios, it could be this one that matches the specs so that's my bet panelook.com/MV3…tml
but only the actual panel model would tell this, which may be accessed once one discovers how to get in to the service menu, however I imagine that there are not that many 32" 2k panels on the market, so things like back light implementation would matter more. As far as I am concerned the most important outcome of the traditional IPS are the view angles and the color accuracy, which appear to be ok with this panel and seems comparable if not better than my old AH IPS Dell.
Anyway, a bit of update from my end as well: [email protected] is ok with HDMI (1.4 here), in fact you can run this panel at 62Hz. Today I plugged it with DP, which appears to ver be v1.2 an you can get native 10bit color (only 8 bit on HDMI). On DP I could overclock upto ~66Hz but the color has to be 8bits, I am not sure if it's worth it. Havent played with the DP sync and the overdrive may be possible to clock higher - interested if someone got this higher and how. If you have and AMD card you can do virtual 4K which looks okish although I prefer the native 2K. From the presents I found the movie mode best in terms of color settings, I am not sure if the blue filter (it has the viewsonic implementation) is active in this mode though.
So I am happy with it, thus my original choice to share the deal.

gazza.ladra to 3ak
23 Sep 17#48
both do 60Hz, DP gives you 10bit color and some more selections of the pixel ratios. I have seen some reports that DP may have lower input lag depending on the implementation, but this depends from panel to panel. If I were you, I would buy the cheapest DP cable on the bay say this one for 1.49 (or any other) ebay.co.uk/itm…01V if your video card has a native DP port.

Got mine today. Really nice, great colours, no dead pixels, but a few warnings. No DVI!?!?! On a monitor!? I know it's in the description as not supported, but still, I didn't think I needed to look for it... And no displayport cable in the box (most older graphics cards don't support more than 1920x1200 over HDMI), so haven't been able to test full resolution yet  . The box contains the following cables HDMI, Euro (not UK) power, headphone jack to headphone jack. No manual (have to download), just a quick start guide that is useless. Finally, a little widget that doesn't get any explanation, but turns out it is a little handle you screw into the back of your monitor to help you position it more easily (mine's going straight on a VESA mounting so could be useful). I've just seen it's out of stock but Kikatek also doing it for a few pounds more, as well as Kingsfield Computers, for a little less (I've never heard of them though, I'd stick to Kikatek, I've not had any issues with them). Hope this helps!

This monitor is good. I've never owned an IPS and to be honest I'm still half sure if this thing is IPS as when I'm too far to the left or right you will see shadows. Is this normal?
No dead pixels, amazing quality. However I have my alienware plugged in on the left of the picture and you can clearly see the delay very fractionally but still noticeable.
The plastic underneath feels cheap but i couldn't care less I've stuck the cables in and it won't be moving anywhere now.
Has the 2 pin plug - luckily had a spare adapter. Need to buy a display port as it didn't come with it just hdmi to hdmi
It does have speakers. They might not be great but they'll do the job.
Would I buy this monitor again? Yes. At this price it's a steal. Good colours, might be 2k but 4k looks good as I showed you on the picture.

There is a difference ips type is not ips as we know it see below. Hope it clarifies the matter. Hence the price. Towards the end of 2010 Samsung Electronics introduced Super PLS (Plane-to-Line Switching) with the intent of providing an alternative to the popular IPS technology which is primarily manufactured by LG Display. It is an "IPS-type" panel technology, and is very similar in performance features, specs and characteristics to LG Display's offering. Samsung adopted PLS panels instead of AMOLED panels, because in the past AMOLED panels had difficulties in realizing full HD resolution on mobile devices. PLS technology was Samsung’s wide-viewing angle LCD technology, similar to LG Display’s IPS technology.[22]

I have a 32" Ausus IPS 2560 by1440 and you will have to sit at least two feet away to not notice the pixels on the screen TXT. Otherwise all is good with the size as you can open huge speadsheets or two massive windows for editing. Same will apply to this make.so max screen size at this resolution would be 28" as after this the pixels are too big. If you are after 32" then 4K would be ideal. Or just buy a 40" 4K TV as a few people have done and use it as a monitor but make sure its true 4K.

For those who have one, any issues with vertical banding? I've just been through a couple of 32" HP Pavillion's and they both had a dark band in virtually the same place - very annoying and it seems most of the VA based monitors sold are using the same panel with similar issues reported.
