This was probably my most played Steam game and the most fun - great game. Most of my Steam games still to this day remain unplayed - this was the total opposite and I remember I couldn't stop playing it. Recommend to anyone who hasn't got it. Time seems to vanish completely when you're playing this. Wish they would bring out a sequel. It's also surprisingly difficult, engaging and unpredictable for such a basic simple looking game. Despite all it's repetition, it actually never felt repetitive at all when playing it. I really think they should add an online mulitplayer element to the ship battles / scenarios so it's not just AI you're dealing with - would really spice things up - so many cool things you could do with this game design tbh.

Insanely good, addictive, well crafted and beautifully balanced. Every loss spurs you on to greater tactics and new approaches to battle and victory. Just wow. Years later still a gem.

One thing I'd say about this game is not to start on the Advanced expansion - the original base game on the easiest difficulty is the best place to start. This game is sometimes about winning, but far more often it's about a glorious death (well, unless you get 4 x Burst II lasers - then everything becomes irrelerent).

Nah, two Burst II lasers, Glaive beam, and a weapon pre-igniter.
