Price is £169.99 Not £160.5

It shows as 218 dollars, I googled what this is in pounds and it said 160.50, have I missed something?

I clicked on the link and selected £ as currency and then price shown as £169.99. So if anyone placing the order would pay£169.99 than £160.5
I am sure I am not missing anything

I may be wrong but my understanding with these sites is you get the best price by leaving it in dollars and paying on a no fees credit card
baldude to Daverobeo
16 Sep 17#13
My point is that is impossible to get Google conversion rates even with no fee credit card. One thing majority people do is just select currency as pounds to pay for.

Thanks for your helpful and persitant coments.... I just thought people on this site liked to go a little further to find the best price, no fee credit cards are free and they would save you nearly £10 on this purchase alone. Have a lovely evening.

I always buy my stuff from China with a Halifax clarity card in dollars especially anything over £100 as it is a extra saving this deal comes out as £162.64 paying in dollars $218 on mastercard currency converter mastercard.us/en-…tml so saving an extra £7. The only Chinese site i dont do this is aliexpress as their £ to $ rates are pretty much similar to clarity card strangely though paying in euro's is slightly better on aliexpress

Selecting usd and paying with Halifax clarity will get you this for £160.50

then it's not available for everyone as I assume not everyone have clarity card?

Personally think reducing the battery size by 25% compared to the redmi Note 4 was a wrong move. Still amazing value though. And coming down in price nicely. 150 quid soon...

This is also a pre order and does not ship for another 6 weeks,in which time the other big chinese sites may undercut it.

No problem - it's a cheapy phone, leave it hidden in your pocket and present your plastic to the shopkeeper.

Once you're used to AP its really annoying to use cards again. Plus I made Tasker profile to help track spendings.

Is there a Xiaomi phone in this price bracket with NFC? Or which manufacturer does offer NFC on a decent phone for £100-150??

Lenovo P2 but that's about £200

Virtually everyone puts nfc inside their phone these days.

Christ, its £160 - its not a top of the range phone. You're still getting a lot for your money and its got a dual camera.

Yep, totally agree but wouldn't you think that nfc is more a standard rather than dual camera? Not dissing this phone, just saying that it's missing nfc and it's a real shame.

China and India don't use Google Pay, that's why. Google and Apple pay are only really a thing in the US and parts of Europe. Japan has had saifu keitai systems for a few years but those work differently.
China actually doesn't even have Google Play at all which is why many Chinese phones ship without it.

India has google play store, there is nothing other than google there, so chinese manufactures have to get play store version of there software

Yeah maybe those countries don't use Android Pay but just by putting nfc chip in the phone enables other functions... You've got nfc literally everywhere these days!

18 Sep 17#42
Again, not in those countries. You're thinking from a westerner perspective. People's needs are different depending upon where in the world they live.

Then don't shop for Chinese or Indian mobile phones. It's that simple.

All phones are made abroad including the IPhone. But they are made for different markets. To buy a phone which will only work as a toy or a phone shaped object is wrong. Also identity theft is not a very big issue abroad as most things cannot be done online like in this country. So buying a phone full of spyware may work in China or India but not here. If you keep up with the news , Google started a different version of Android pay called Tej in India which will never work here. To say one size fits all is absolutely wrong.
Spark to sam_of_london
18 Sep 17#45
When in the hell did I ever suggest that? In truth though, most of the identity theft that takes place in the west is user driven and is the fault of those affected for not properly understanding the tech they're using and broadcasting everything about themselves publicly online.

Blame the victim, not the criminal . How intelligent . If you get raped or murdered , it will be your fault. That is what you are saying.

No I'm not. I'm saying that people should try to understand the tech a little better before they entrust their lives and wellbeing to it.

Here you are speaking about lack of NFC yet you posted 2 phones yesterday which lack NFC.
Also you're speaking about identity theft and phones "full of spyware" again when it has already been pointed out in your Umidigi thread that there are plenty of incidences of many of their phones coming pre-installed with malware/spyware.

I voted hot for this phone. This is a cracking phone due to Android One. If NFC was there it would have made it even better. The Umidigi S2 I posted was presale so the jury is still out . Already the deal sold out and higher price now.
