I should have known better than to use a website like this. You need to order this sort of thing from AliExpress if you want it dispatched anything close to a reasonable amount of time.

I think the main thing to note is that they've advertised the phones that were ordered before 21st September are to be dispatched on the 10th of October. so we should not be expecting them to be delivered any time soon, free Chinese delivery usually takes 1-4 weeks to be delivered. or are we supposed to be expecting it to be delivered today?

All things considered I think that the dual camera is the deciding factor for me and my daughter (ordering 2) as we've got our first grandson and hopefully we will have plenty of photos opportunities. Plus she's upgrading from a battered LGG4 and the camera on that thing is/was bloody amazing. I just lost my 14 month old Oneplus 3 on the beach in Cyprus, (never used NFC) I would've kept that for at least another 6/8 months if I hadn't have lost it, complete numpty. Anyway the trade off for me is the battery, as the battery on the RN4 (typing on it now, ordered the 3g ram 32 ROM global version for my wife) is a complete and utter beast, but then I'm used to the battery on the OP3, and that wasn't exactly great.

There have been quite a few people comparing the two on other Mi A1 threads. They both have their advantageous differences so there's no clear answer. What one to go for, is dependant on what is more valuable to the buyer.
Mi A1 advantages:
Android One (Oreo by end of the year and will be one of the first devices to get Android P. Whereas RN4 is highly unlikely to get Android P and if it follows the trend of previous Redmi Notes, then it won't get official Oreo either), dual camera, fast charge, sleeker design.
RN4 Global Version advantages:
Larger battery (Mi A1's battery + 33% extra). Cheaper for equivalent 4/64GB with option of an even cheaper 3/32GB variant.
Personally RN4 Global Version would be more appealing since the main advantage of Mi A1 has very little value for me. A lot of people talk about how pure Android is the best and want the latest Android versions but I previously had a Nexus device for years and there was no advantage being the first to get updates and I didn't notice anything beneficial after any Android version update so it made no difference to me.

The thing built into SD625, is Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 but that doesn't mean all SD625 phones will support it. The Mi A1 doesn't have QC3.0 so it's not because of SD625, but it does apparently have a form of fast charging. The Mi Max 2 and Redmi Note 4 also have the same SD625 but their quick charge capabilities differ from Mi A1.
Mi Max 2: The only one of the 3 that supports QC3.0 Mi A1: No QC3.0 but apparently has "adaptive fast charge" Redmi Note 4: No QC3.0 or fast charging at all

Not sure of the specifics behind it but the USB spec, battery spec and the overall circuit layout will vary from one SD625 phone to another. Whilst the SD625 may have the feature, I guess the phone would still need the means to use it. So perhaps a case of inability to utilise the feature rather than disabling the feature.

The huge advantage of NFC is that it allows Google/Apple to spy on everything you purchase using it, so allowing them to build up a profile on you and target you with ads, share this data with 'trusted 3rd parties' etc. :thumbsup:

you should really give android pay a go. if you live in a settlement of any significant size (i.e. anything bigger than a village), you'll appreciate how convenient it is.
if you live in a moderately large town or ideally a city, you will find you will barely need to have your wallet with you, if at all. given the wide proliferation of contactless payments - shopping, purchases, transport, all covered by a tap of your phone without getting your wallet out. i lived in london a good few years without using my wallet at all - its strangely liberating.

if you live in a moderately large town or ideally a city, you will find you will barely need to have your wallet with you, if at all. given the wide proliferation of contactless payments - shopping, purchases, transport, all covered by a tap of your phone without getting your wallet out. i lived in london a good few years without using my wallet at all - its strangely liberating.
Haven't had any custom issues so far with them.
