I posted a Budapest Christmas Market last week and that led to some discussion about Prague or Budapest, so I thought I'd make sure I'm firmly on the fence by posting a Prague Christmas Market stay as well!
£89pp and up to 48% off, I received this in an email this evening from Gogroopie. Either stay in a 4* hotel or a 3* with spa facilities, both hotels have Wi-Fi.
Cheapest price is for mid December dates so ideal for the last minute present hunters! :ninja:

Decent deal I booked my parents a 3 nights in Prague for mid December. £99 per person from Liverpool. Staying at the Claris Hotel which is about 5 minute walk from Wenceslas Square which is where 1 of the 2 main Christmas markets is and the old town square which 5 minutes away from Wenceslas Square.

I've always found Prague Xmas market rather disappointing. A lot of potential though and fortunately the city compensates. Preferred Berlin, Wroclaw and even Belfast.

Any tips for Wroclaw? Heading there in a few weeks.

Dwarf spotting, the view from the tower of St. Elizabeth and the Zoo I enjoyed. There are many decent restaurants and bars in the old Jewish District now too.

I love Prague in the Summer and Winter, but there are far better markets to be seen elsewhere. Dresden is considerably better and only a 2 hour/ 12 Euro return train journey from Prague. We did it last year - go to Dresden for the day from Prague. The train journey is very picturesque as it follows the river, and the christmassy things you'd buy like Nutcracker wooden figures and decorations are cheaper in Dresden too.

Looks tempting, anyone had experience using this company?

I used them for the recent similar deal to Budapest. That one was advertised as 2 nights, but the times included in the deal essentially got you to your hotel just before midnight, 1 full day in Buda, then 3am flight the next morning. So '2 nights' was essentially one 24 hour period. Ended up being upsold £39pp to get better flights that essentially got us 2 days rather than the one. That came into about £100pp-ish anyway which tbh isn't too bad for flights and hotel (I think?)

I haven't used them but my advice would be don't bother. I've posted on a few of these GoGroupie deals now because I feel it's important people know what they are actually getting for their money.
Using this deal as an example, the cheapest flights out of Stansted for the dates quoted (Dec 11-13) are with Ryanair and cost £51 per person. The flight out leaves at 19:40 and arrives in Prague at 22:40. The flight home leaves at 07:05 so as kasewene has pointed out, you'll end up with just one full day in Prague.
Hotel Aida has decent reviews but isn't central at all so you'll waste even more time travelling into the city. It's also available for £67 for the dates quoted, so the total cost if you book directly with Ryanair for the flights and booking.com for the hotel would be £84 per person - cheaper than this deal.
If you're interested in this sort of break the best thing to do is use Skyscanner to find flights at an airport that works for you and then something like booking.com or expedia for the hotel. You'll be able to choose more suitable flight times and a hotel or apartment that's in a better location and/or better quality.

The only excitement to be had in the Prague old town square xmas market is when the christmas tree falls on someone.

May sound a stupid question, but how does this compare to Birmingham? I'm told that Birmingham German market is better than the one in Berlin.. However I've never been to any others..

No Idea how it compares but the one in Berlin is definitely better than Birmingham!!

well apparantly a pint in Prague is just over a quid and Birmingham you pay around £4 ? I'd choose Prague

There is far more to experience in Prague than the £3 saving on a beer. You would be missing out.
