Nah, they're egg layers, not meat birds. Probably classed as free range though, as long as the door is left open !

Them oakham chickens are far from free range, a medium free range chicken in M&S is about £10 and the packaging clearly states free range. These cheapo chickens wouldn't have seen much daylight unfortunately but because they are from M&S and from a fictional farm called "Oakham" that they must be better than the chickens you get from the likes of farm foods or Iceland. I wonder how much it costs to feed these chickens when they are being sold so cheaply and the farm as well as M&S both make a profit. It's a good deal but people need to know the provenance of their food, especially when it comes to meat and poultry.

Perhaps you could tell the millions of people in food poverty that they need to know the provenance of their food? Not an option for some. That chicken (or any other 'cheapo' chicken) could provide a good source of protein for several meals.

people who shop at M&S are poor? Are you sure about that? M&S give the illusion "Oakham Farm" is a place of sunny pastures and village shops. The meat "chickens" are from mass producing factories from wherever will sell them for the lowest price. And if you are talking about cheap protein 1 kilo of free range eggs from our local farm costs £2.40 (many double Yokers too) 2 kilo of dried chickpeas (4.5 kilos cooked) costs £3.29mat Tesco and is about 20% protein. I actually tonight made a 7 bean vegan chilli including chick peas tonight and it was lush but I had a nice free range chicken breast on the side cost I like chicken.
Ive not a problem with the deal because it is a good deal but some people might not know that the chickens are poor welfare chickens which is bad.
Heat added anyway
