Is the D-pad as good as the pokken tournament controller?

Are these really necessary? Just ordered a switch and wondering.

This is ok if you mainly use the switch in docked mode as it can't be used in tabletop mode (not without buying additional stuff and it looking like a holy mess). Still not a patch on Nintendo's own pro controller

Thanks I'll see how I get on without one for now.

The joycon and pro controllers both have d pad problems which make them bad for fighting games. The Hori pokken controller for wii U is what I use, but it only has two shoulder buttons.

Usually really like Hori stuff, even use their XO pad on the PC but the D-Pad on this looks like :poop:

I own this along with the Zelda PowerA and the Gamewill controller's. This Hori one is the best of the 3rd party pro controller's in my opinion. D-pad looks clunky but plays really well.

I Just got a Nintendo Switch a couple of weeks ago. And Looking for a fighting controller. I mainly used the d-pad a lot when I play a lot of fighting games. Would you recommend this or should I just get the pro controller thanks.

I have one of these and the d-pad is miles better to use for King of Fighters than either the official pro controller or the joycons. Has no motion controls etc so I can't use it for Splatoon 2 (without making me worse at the game) but I think it's pretty good overall. It doesn't have rumble or an amiibo sensor either (which is presumably why it's like half the price of the pro), but otherwise it has seemed really good on everything I've tried it with (especially KoF).

Thanks for the kind reply. Gonna get one of these mainly for my fighting games. I got Garou: Mark of the wolves. And going to get Ultra Street Fighter 2 this week a long with this controller. Will get the pro controller for the other games at some point
