The site that you link to is a grey market import, non UK model with potential import duty - there is no parity between this and a High Street Store that you can collect from. This is a very good deal, Amazon is £128 (Plus Delivery) which is £13 more expensive.

My point was that it's not £220 elsewhere as OP stated, and it can be had for far less. So it's not as a great deal as made out to be.
As for e-infinity, they say on their web site they ship from UK, I ordered a lens from them this afternoon will know for sure when it arrives if anyone is interested.

I purchased a digital SLR and lens from them and their service was impeccable. The trustpilot reviews were actually spot on. They even send you a photo of the parcel with your name on it when they dispatch the item.

Lens advertised is £220 elsewhere with a Nikon UK Warranty thank you. You can always buy grey markets lens or cameras for cheaper, but if they go wrong (and they do) then your lens or camera is not covered by Nikon and will not necessarily be repaired by Nikon.

£105 on eglobal, less if you use TCB 3% and a working coupon code. Where I got mine before I sold it last year. Came in retail box etc etc arrived in under a week, thousands spent on eglobal never extra fees etc etc
I find it stops people undermining you if you briefly cover something and say etc etc

Good to know, just about to buy a 7D from e-finity, price keeps dropping £809.00 last time looked.
Did yours come brand new, never been opened?

Slightly off
Would a tamron lens be cheaper and good enough for the price
Can someone advise and recommend

Sold both my 18-55 and 55-200 and got a Tamron 16-300, havnt looked back. Also snagged a Tamron SP AF150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD from amazon warehouse pristine for £280 early-mid last year. Tamrons slightly less sharp apparently but unless you're a pro you won't notice.

Whn you say you sold 18-55 and replaced with 16-300, was that your main lens and was that not too bulky/heavy?

My D5500 came with 18-55 and 55-200, they were really light and done the job, but I wanted something that would cover that spectrum without the need to take lenses on and off, so I sold them and got the well thought of Tamron 16-300, which I love. It is a decent bit heavier than the others but the quality is great and you can get the shot you need close or far without fiddling with lenses. Then I got the 150-600 just because of the price, I could still sell it now and make a good profit, I've used it a handful of times and it's in pristine condition, it's just nice having the option of snapping things at such distance, it weighs a lot. The one thing I like about lenses, if you get them for a decent price then they won't lose value really, or at least not for a very long time. My next lens will probably be a prime, probably 50mm nikon, definitely from eglobal.
Did you buy it from amazon warehouse and if yes can you tell whats a good price.
Thanks

I got the 16-300 new for £360-370 (that price at the time, not a great deal or anything) ish at the time direct from Amazon themselves. The 150-600 (it's actually the Sigma 150-600mm F/5-6.3 DG HSM Contemporary Zoom Lens for Nikon) after checking, I got for £280 described as like new direct from Amazon warehouse, the actual price was just over £400 but in Oct last year there was some kind of extra discount on warehouse items which dropped it to £280, which made a good price simply too good to miss even as an investment type of item.
The sigma is regarded as slightly better than the Tamron 150-600 but Tamron do have a new G2 model of theirs out which corrects a lot of issues their original had (not worth the premium IMHO).
Buying lenses second hand I would say is the best option if you can't get a great deal new, a lot of people like to buy second hand from Japan because they take care of their stuff a lot more than your average Joe. Get a good price and you won't really lose money any time soon, so you'll have atleast a couple of years to play around then sell on if a lens isn't for you.
OK for convenience but those kit lenses have better image quality.
There are a lot of design compromises in a super wide zoom; chromatic aberration, barrel distortion, loss of sharpness.

True, they are superior, but for an amateur like me, someone who's probably going to resize most images anyway etc, there's not an awful lot of difference in the final result, but the ability to zoom right into something fast is more of a bigger difference.

Tamron is cheaper but the quality of nikon is uncomparable. I am not a professional photographer but have used Tamron, Sigma and Nikon and i can confirm that i would only choose nikon for my nikon cameras as it doesn give much better photo clarity and overall feel to the image.

No. Is the short answer. It depends on what kind of photographer you fancy yourself? If your a part timer with no real interest then yes get the tamron or save yourself even more money and stick to whatever lens you already have.. for me if you have a Nikon camera get Nikon lenses! You may be able to get similar results with a cheaper lens that doesn't have the Nikon badge on it but the money you save for me just doesn't warrant the downgrade? :s
