Catch the Poké Ball Edition New Nintendo 2DS XL.
The new, clamshell-design system will be available in a stylish PokeBall Edition, with the iconic red front, based on the top of the Poké Ball, while the bottom will take on a white base.
As the name of the new system implies, visuals will be displayed in 2D only. The system is lighter but still packs the same power as New Nintendo 3DS XL, and has built-in NFC support for amiibo cards and figures. It can play the massive library of quality Nintendo 3DS, New Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo DS games in 2D. Nintendo systems are also the only dedicated video game systems where people can find their favourite characters and game franchises, such as Mario, Peach, Yoshi, Kirby, Pokémon, Fire Emblem, Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros, Animal Crossing and The Legend of Zelda.

This specific one or the 2DS XL in general?
I purchased the black and turquoise on launch day (paying £158 with Mario Maker), the 3DS didn't really appeal to me (I had the New 3DS XL, but passed it on to my son). The new 2DS XL has a nice design, feels good and has a great range of titles available, I personally don't think it is, others will disagree

Opinions vary.
You can buy a console that plays the same games cheaper.
But still doesn't mean this isn't a good price.

My son is a pokemon nut. He has his sister's old pink game boy advance and this covered it up perfectly

Heat for the best price. On a side note, I quite like the new snes 3ds.looks pretty cool. But expensive.

Same here, and I really don't want a 3DS, so if they released a SNES version of the 2DS, I would definitely be in! :sunglasses:

Sadly it's only in the 3ds xl. I technically don't need one either. But I think I'd appreciate it for years to come.
Why is this priced higher than the usual standard price for 2DS XL?

Because it's special (propably limited) edition.

Which one would hold its value better this or the SNES 3DS XL version?

Supply and demand. Would all depend on how many are made and how many bought them. I will say though. Don’t buy this as an investment because if anything like the original shiny blue and limited Pokémon 3DS prices did go up slightly but soon came down to less than rrp for sealed in box on eBay.
