I was waiting to post it until a received mine , but as I received a brand new one I think this is an excellent deal.
Unfortunately you cannot choose the color, I have received the black one
If you are not that lucky just return it  , but it is a bargain at this price.
Nest Learning Thermostat, 3rd Generation
The 3rd generation Nest Learning Thermostat is slimmer, sleeker and even more beautiful. With a bigger, sharper display and Far sight, you can see the time or the temperature you've set from across the room. And now it even controls your hot water tank. The Nest Thermostat learns the temperature you like, then programs itself. It uses built-in sensors to confirm no one's home and It knows how long it takes to heat your home so you're comfortable when you get there. When you leave, it turns itself down so you save energy. And you can check your Energy History with the Nest App to see how much you've saved.
Features:
Auto-Schedule: No more programming With Auto-Schedule, Nest learns from you and programs itself
Auto-Away: The Nest Thermostat automatically turns itself down after you leave to help you save energy
Hot Water: Now Nest can control your hot water tank You can even adjust the hot water schedule from your mobile
Modulation: Nest now uses Open Therm technology to modulate your high-efficiency condensing boiler. So you can save even more energy
Remote Control: With Nest app, you can change temperature, check Energy History, and get an alert if your home gets too cold

How much would it cost approximately to get one of these installed by an engineer?

Did you get a full servicing while he was there too?

I got a CeX one a few months ago and it was also brand new. Installed and working fine. The distance selling regs make it worth the punt!

Control your hot water tank, what if as a lot will have just a combi boiler.

That's fine, its purely optional. It 'can' control your hot water if you have that type of boiler but if you don't then you just use it to control your heating.

When I asked the guy who does my boiler service how much it would be for to install a Nest, he had to ring up his office as he didn't do it himself, they told him £40 to install, which caught me off guard, as I was expecting high double minimum for some reason.
I suspect it might depend on what system you have in place already...

Bought one from CEX couple of months ago for £125. Mine arrived in open badly ripped box, fittings looked brand new but thermostat glass surface was all scratched. Went back to the local store the next day. Looked at eBay and luckily found local seller (appears to be installer) who sold Nest for £130 and pick up 5 min away.

Had mine fitted a couple of weeks ago after getting on amazon prime day. £75 all in, took about an hour. I have a hot water tank rather than combi. Next pro installer looked up on their website

I guess I would be comfortable knowing that my engineer was certified and not some one who read what he found on the Internet. I did call at least 4 installers from my location nn4 and they varied from £95 to £110. Took the one which could do it sooner than 3 weeks waiting.

Whilst I realise some setups may differ, i found installing this with a modern Worcester Combi is literally as easy as wiring a 13amp plugtop.

I took up this deal a few weeks ago from cex. The actual thermostat was not brand new and the dial doesn't have a smooth action, although the fixtures were brand new. I suspect cex are selling a job lot of imperfect returns.
Anyway it was still ok for the price so I kept it. I fixed the Nest Link to the wall next to my combi boiler myself but chickened out of the wiring, not wanting to damage my boiler or myself :). I called a local approved Nest installer who came out and wired it up for £60

I bought mine from nPower for £129 a year ago, got a few quotes of £90+ for installing it, but ended up doing it myself as its not that difficult if you have some basic electrical knowledge. Works very well although I disabled the self learning features as I would rather be in control of the schedules.
