At that price it’s a risk worth taking for the saving IMO. The data on the disk far exceeds the actual cost so in 2-5years were it to fail, I would be more bothered about that. Most hard disks I’ve seen go wrong have done it early on or give signs of failure (e.g. noisy bearings, SMART faults reported or excessive clicking).
On another note, WD’s site is rubbish. They spent all this time redesigning it with ‘rich graphics’ and were too lazy to put a ‘show in stock’ filter on it...

no, you're not, it's just not visible unless it's in stock. terrible website. even worse on mobile, at least desktop version says 'notify me' where the add to cart button appears, mobile view doesn't even indicate it's out of stock.

Use a program called CrystalDiskInfo to give you an accurate reading on how much the drive is used. Last time I bought a recertified drive it had alot of usage and died within 2 years. I wouldn't use it for anything more than moving data from one device to another, or storing media that doesn't have any sentimental value.
