Does anyone know whether these work with Samsung Smart TVs. Mine is a 2014 model. I presume it will although not officially supported. Just wondering whether anyone has this setup?

It will work. The smart tv's find any connected devices on the same network, so you will be able to stream from this. I do the same!

I imagine the 2100 should be better, but don't think it's available at the minute?

The funniest thing is that I can add the 3TB new version to my cart for only £59.99 (i.e. cheaper than this deal): wdc.com/en-…tml
You are right, this is a NAS, rather than a local USB drive. "Between the My Book and My Cloud: You can't hook a My Cloud up to your router's USB port. It's a NAS; so it'd be connected to your router via Ethernet. The My Book could be connected to your router's USB port, but as to what functionality that gives you, that's entirely up to your router's capabilities." community.wd.com/t/m…085

Remember, you only get a 6 month warranty with recertified units instead of the usual 3 to 5 year warranty.

Can someone please tell me about the cloud storage for these because I can't find much info? Is it right that for offsite back ups and external hard drive back ups will only work with a dropbox account (something I don't have or want)?
Also, can the device be accessed through a Chromebook as well?

This is cheaper than just buying the hard-drive on its own, but it is rectified!
