The G4 series has known issues with its screens - three people on the thread alone have the handset and said they had the same problem. No smoke without fire. Personally I would want to know all this before I shelled out £150
I wonder how much the Snapdragon 450 phones will be in a few months. I think it is basically the 625 but with USB C.

For the brave-hearted (i.e those who, like me, don't worry about warranties etc) a tenner less than this will get you a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 with 5,5 FHD screen, 4GB RAM, 64Gb internal memory, 4100mAh battery, snapdragon 625 processor etc etc direct from China. Or the 3GB/32GB version for approx 40 quid less!...just a thought.

My Note 4X has just broken its power charge port, and I got it apart to replace the charge board but can't find the right one for love nor money.

Is the camera any good though? I have a MI max and love it apart from the camera in low light

Not sure about the Mi Max but certainly the Redmi Note 4 arrives with the camera pic quality set to normal so pop into the camera settings and crank it up to high quality and the camera performs much better. Certainly no iphone/S7 beater but fine unless you want to take pro quality snaps.

The 4GB Redmi Note 4 seems to be Helio and not Snapdragon 625.

There's a MTK (Helio) and a Qualcomm (SD625) version. The SD one is made for the Indian market and the Global version of this has all the relevant UK LTE bands covered.
Thanks, I wouldn't want an MTK chipset gift wrapped and unfortunately it seems as though the Qualcomm version is much more difficult to come by from suppliers in the UK.

Even if you could find one you would probably be paying at least a 50 quid premium. How much is a warranty worth?

It was more about getting it faster tbh. You can go for express options from China but they usually come at the premium of having to pay customs fees and ordering stuff from China via standard delivery can be a bit of a minefield.
