No band 20 on this, right?

Well wrong actually - if it's the P2a42 model then it does have band 20. I should know, i've got one.
Although having just clicked the link after posting, i can see it's the P2C72 model so you are, in fact, right

To throw another spanner in the works - there's a thread on changing the ROM to the p2a42: forum.xda-developers.com/len…148 edit: but still no b20

I'm fairly certain that flashing a different rom on to the phone still won't give you band 20 though.

ROM change/flashing, or no ROM change/flashing is immaterial ...
As Band 20 (and/or lack there of?) are all physical attributes of the phone (or again, a lack there of?).
Whereas ROM I'd purely that of a software one (and a software one alone ... )
So doing any of the suggested ROM stuff's above will be irrelevant basically?.
As it'll sadly change nothing ...

Does that require root. I want band 20 but my banking app refuses to work on rooted phones.

Yes it does require.

Dude just install Xpossed framework and install root hider. It will hide the fact your phone is rooted and you can install your banking app

I tried rootcloak several years ago and that failed. Probably something I did wrong but it's put me off rooting my current phone. I'll do some research on root hider and see if people have had success.

Root with magisk. It can pass Google's SafetyNet and hide in other apps e.g. Android Pay/Pokémon Go/Snapchat etc

What would be the advantage of doing this? The ROW rom works perfectly and gets OTA updates so I don't understand why you would root the phone and flash the UK rom on it?
In fact just checked mine, the sticker that was on the back of it is P2c72 but when I go into settings and about phone the model number is P2a42 and Build number is P2a42_S244_170725_ROW.
This is how it came from GearBest so it's already been converted to the P2a42?!

Would it work in UK and Europe without band 20?

Friend of mine did this, as their phone came with the p2c72 rom - (they're using 3 network UK no b20). But then (looking at other posts above) it may come with p2a42 rom already installed.

This is what I thought, I'm guessing you are with three network and want the low 800mhz frequency?

I'm on ID mobile, but they run on 3.
Equally, even if i wasnt i might change at some point I think worth holding out for

Or on O2, as O2 runs on Band 20 for for it's 4G ...
Though I have heard that alternative 'Bands' are utilised via the major Network's for 4G, when no Band 20 is viable etc?.
Something also worth baring in mind too perhaps?.

That code is mentioned on the thread you linked to. Near the end. Is there any point in starting a new thread?

So if these are selling as P2c72 but as Sp0oner reported the model number is P2a42 - can we say that these are all Band 20 then?
Sp0oner - what charger did your phone come with?

It is just a software change, B20 will still not be available on the phone. What they are doing is installing the P2a42 ROW rom on the phone so you aren't stuck with a Chinese rom on the phone.
The charger is still the Chinese charger but they include a UK adaptor with it. You will want to keep the Chinese charger with the adaptor as it is a fast charger and charges from 0-100% in 90 minutes which is impressive for such a large battery.

I wouldn't let the lack of B20 put you off buying this phone unless you live in the sticks. I've been using one for around 2 months and have not once had a problem with the signal, i Live in Stockport and work in Macclesfield. Macclesfield isn't a big town by any means and yet i always have a strong signal and great speeds. No brainer at this price.

Great phone. Both my kids have these (via the Three deal) and they love it. My older son had he chance to replace it with a new iPhone 6 Plus and passed on that
