Will be buggy and/or full of malware like every other dingdong branded phone from gearbest or banggood. In fact several sites warn of it.

Just curious with your statement but does Gearbest or BangGood include the malware or the phone brand?

Just a general xenophobic statement it seems

Unlikely to be from the manufacturer nowadays, now it's the middle man. However the manufacturer would need to be involved somewhere I reckon - it takes a while for the best developers on XDA to get custom ROMs released, for something to appear on a new or unreleased phone immediately would need some sort of knowledge of the device. Could be gb or bg, or it could be from whatever distributer gets hold of it first before supplying GB.
Who knows if they stock the phone or it is drop shipped from this dodgy distributer. I got a jiayu S3 from Amazon, and sent via prime and even that was riddled. Anti malware software wasn't able to pick it up but from firewall logs and analysis and seeing what services were running it was shocking how much data was being sent back to China and Malaysia. Some was unencrypted like your GPS coordinates, battery status, and some I couldn't get in to, who knows what that contained. Changed all my passwords as a precaution, luckily no banking apps seemed to work on it.
No proper reviews out yet for this phone but this guy reckons it's stupidly cheap for what you're getting. Might keep an eye out for this one...

The Helio X-20 is no slouch and a cut about the 6750T you usually see at this price point. It also has a Gyroscope which isn't a given at the £100 mark. Tempting...

Its not the performance thats the issue for me.
Mediatek dont play nice with many custom roms - snapdragon tend to be better.
With a more exotic brand like Leagoo, I'd really want to put something like Lineage OS on it.

Been using a leagoo shark from gearbest for over a year, all banking, PayPal, eBay etc no problems at all. Just got a oukitel k10000pro from gearbest no problems with that either.
