Not bad for a flagship from last year. I think unlocked B is overall pretty decent condition.

Be careful with Cex in buying phones, I bought a Sony Xperia Z3+ about a year ago (it was cheap, Unlocked A) and it had dents, and the touchscreen had a deadzone in the middle luckily I got my money back, what I am trying to say is to make sure your item is in the said condition!

Just for a measured response to the above, I've bought three Grade B phones from CEX over the years. Two have been perfect, one developed a fault with the camera after 8 months and they swapped it for another handset without fuss.
Pay with credit card for the best cover, or at least by PayPal.

I might have recommended that site to a mate who needs a new phone, were it not for the constant and very unnerving pop-ups. What sort of legitimate site tries to be so invasive?

It's pot luck with CeX. Sometimes perfect grade B, sometimes battered grade A, just expect a wide range but yes, they are good at taking stuff back. I just returned a Sony VAIO Duo 11 that was faulty after 20 months and got the value back as a voucher with no deductions. So, in summary, worth buying but expect some effort on your part to make it right, also if you are returning something do it in a different store as then they're less likely to argue and take it back regardless.

The value when you bought it or the value now?

The value when I bought it was the same as the value now so I didn't lose anything but obviously the voucher value has buying power now which suits me fine. I just keep an eye out for bargains and will use it for that, I got a Garmin Fenix 5 Sapphire grade B the other day for just £340 - it was brand new, boxed and had the HRM-Tri strap (£649.99 at Garmin), no idea which cretin in store graded it as a B and not hanging about to ask either - especially as the normal non-Sapphire Fenix 5 is more expensive?
It's not all roses - I have returned a lot of stuff to CeX this year including RAM that wasn't what it should be (similar to the poster above - some of it was registered or ECC RAM, no idea how they 'tested' it and didn't spot that), a hard disk that caught fire and a Surface Book that was bent...

That's good, how long is their warranty with laptops and computer components? I'm surprised after 20 months they were happy to give you a voucher for what you paid for it tbh.

Anything bought after 15th November 2015 (I think) has a 24 month warranty. The reason they give the voucher and refund is because the stores are semi-independent or franchised so they really don't care if they're refunding another store, they certainly rarely bother testing it (don't send it to Head Office as they'll take weeks, probably will test it and claim it's fine, or in the worst case of mine - they took my laptop back, denied having it and put it on a shop floor for sale! I actually went to court over that for the refund and won, that was back in 2012). Some items, e.g. smartphones, will obviously depreciate overtime and you might get current value for it only, but the VAIO Duo was such a rare laptop that they didn't update the price and £250 was cheap in 2015 anyway, let alone 2017.

CeX are very erratic with their grading and pricing. I bought a Smart Platinum 7 from the local store and it appeared to be brand new as there were zero marks on it and it came with all the accessories still sealed. They said it was grade B purely because it lacked the original box!
Took a brand new LG V20 in a retail box to trade and they said it was grade B because it lacked a UK charger even though there is no UK version and they had a bunch of them they are selling as Grade A. Once I told them that they emailed head office and they were told to treat it as Grade A.
The situation with computer components is worse as they regularly sell RAM as being the wrong category. I ordered two 2,400MHz laptop sticks and received a 2,133 laptop stick and a 2,400 Server stick. At least they were the correct capacity.
They have terrible quality control.

You were meant to purchase UK socket from eBay and give them with lg V20 and they will consider it as far A

It came with a UK adaptor which I included and they offered me grade A once they realised their mistake.

Stay away their testing is pointless. My freind sold a iPhone to them that had major battery problems. He got tons of money for it even though it was aweful. And sold an ipad that was crap recently too.
Feel sorry for anyone who bought any of them.
So yeah ... stay away ... Not worth it.

Bought lots of devices online from CEX. Only once did something arrive and not work. I printed a free postage return label and a few days later they promptly refunded my money in full. Agree that the condition of B grade goods does vary quite a lot but is always acceptable in my experience. Two year guarantee is useful to have but never needed it. There are bargains to be had if you choose carefully.
I never use a store though. The city centre one near me is always heaving and has a not entirely pleasant aroma emanating from its doorway. A heady mix of sweaty clothing and fried food with hints of herbal substances.

I traded 3 new V20's. The first offered grade A with the standard non-uk charger. The next (different) store offered grade B as there was no UK charger, but said if I provided an LG charger the would offer grade A (I accepted grade B that time). When I took in the 3rd (including an official UK LG fast charger that I bought online) they still offered grade B as the UK charger wouldn't fit in the V20 box! Despite a heated conversation with the 'manager' I was left with a take it or leave it situation. I begrudgingly took the grade B price. I don't want to derail the thread any further but I've also had some issues with buying, although admittedly the return process is straightforward.

I replied to this already (I didn't specify price) - I paid £250 and got back £250 as a voucher, even though CeX don't currently have any in-stock, their current sell price is (would be) £250. I think they say they'll return current market value but I've never had a deduction on a return - and to be honest, with CeX, I am used to returning some of the junk they actually send.
