Received this morning. Look like new out of the box.

TBH I'm disappointed with the sound in comparison to what they are replacing - an old T amp and a very old pair of Mission 730's. A bit tinny, lack of midrange weight and clarity, and the bass is somewhat woolly and one note from the subwoofer - whether on or under desk. Was hoping for better, but still a good price...

It always amuses me when deals for this speaker setup comes up and gets knocked by those who haven't heard them. This is a cheap pair of speakers, even at full price, they are not expensive. These are the best cheap computer speakers I've heard and will only part with mine once they've broken.

If you can still get them, Acoustic Energy Aego M were on discounted prices.
I'll pop back with some other alternatives. I always found these soundsticks to sound a bit "wooly"

Had the soundstick 2 and the sound quality is superb. They cost me £99 So to get the 3 for £80 Is a steal

They sound better than the Yamaha NX-50 they replaced and take less space on the desk in doing so, not quite £6.50 speakers.

"8 full-range transducers" - you know that's nonsense, because Physics
"sound very good indeed" - compared to £6.50 PC World specials, not real HiFi
"Not everybody wants a amp on their desk" - true, but lets be honest about what these things sound like and what the alternatives are.

They are very small, I got an Mpow for £9 on ebay and I'm very impress with the battery! Plus you can keep them constantly connected to an USB port and they won't need any charge!

Why does this kit need to be concerned with a driver to handle bass frequencies? It doesn't, it has the sub.

As for tweeters and mids, the design isn't typical "most proper speakers" don't have 8 transducers, these do, different doesn't mean bad. They have 8 full-range transducers which do a pretty fine job at music reproduction versus any other PC oriented speaker I've tried. Not everybody wants a car amp screwed under their desk, nor studio monitors.

For reference, I have a couple of grands worth of kit dotted around my house along with a long line of audiophile headphones so whilst you're welcome to your opinion of convention, I speak from my own experience of owning these that they're entirely adequate and sound very good indeed.

Personal preferences always prevail in audio/video stuff, but don't mislead people, it isn't helpful.

These are great (for sound that is), bought them last time when currys had they on a super cheap clearance.

I'd thought you'd understand that most proper speakers have a tweeter and a main driver that handles mid and bass frequencies. That's why they call it a subwoofer, because it is supposed to only handle sub bass.

Well that's inflation for you. Harman Kardon were selling these for under £70 on their website just 3 months ago brand new.

From the description on the OP, it doesn't mention Bluetooth. I might be wrong but I thought there were two different models, with Bluetooth and without. To me it looks like these are ones without Bluetooth but I might be wrong. I think the ones with Bluetooth are called Soundsticks III Wireless (or they were when I bought mine anyway)

I thought these have Bluetooth as well as 2x3.5mm jacks.

I've got the ones with Bluetooth built in and they are great. Obviously depends how you are going to use them but I have them wired to my PC using the headphones jack then use the Bluetooth for listening to audio from my phone etc...

I paid about £90 for theBluetooth version a few years ago, so is £80 for the non-Bluetooth version that great?

I bought these years a go at £80 from Tesco brand new, never had any issues with them.

Though I wouldn't be tempted to buy refurbished at this price. With this design and model being years old they are often on a deal somewhere

I have these already and dont use them much,even though I think sound is very good,so in true HUKD style I have ordered them again.

These Harman Kardon Soundsticks are a LOT better then any Bose products I've owned, the soundsticks look and look a sound better!

Anyone know if these power down if no input detected for a while? Manual is very basic and no mention. Would like to use these on a tv set up, but needs to power down when TV is off, thanks in advance.

Had a set of these for quite sometime and they are very very good,add a Bluetooth receiver and you can't really do better for the money.As for Bluetooth receiver I've always used Belkin does the job well

These are decent, my brother has a set. The thing I find annoying is no Wi-fi. We’ve gotten used to a Sony Wi-fi speaker which can be turned on / off directly from the mobile and volume can be controlled via the volume buttons on the phone.
