If you have kids that still believe in Santa then I think this is a great deal. The mark up by travel agents is huge and this is a great value trip for a family of 4.
First of all book flights on norweigan.com £334.20 from London Gatwick to Rovaniemi (Lapland) leaving on 22nd November, returning 24th November. These are the best value flights and you will struggle to find accommodation any later than this in December as it seems to be sold out, although they do have earlier in November too but this seems a bit too early unless you want your kids asking how many sleeps till Christmas every day!
You will then book 2 nights at the Santa Village which is only 5 mins from the airport and includes airport transfers. It is cheaper booking direct at €478/£435.75. You can find cheaper accommodation around £100-£150 a night in the centre but by time you have added transportation on and then visiting Santa Village, I think it's better to stay at the village, especially if you want the all out Santa and Christmas experience. Santa is available to meet every day in the reception area and you can also book additional activities such as husky riding, meeting the reindeer etc.
Book accommodation on the website below €478/£435.75. There is a half board option which is around £645, so over £200 more in total which means you get an evening meal each night, daily housekeeping and a private visit to the cottage by Santa and some gifts too. This may be worth considering too.
Thanks for suggestion - if not those dates, then either much more expensive, or no accomm available

Yes, no availability in December although you can get earlier in November for similar price.

This made me laugh. A friend recently went to Disney and had a 5am flight, took the family down to the airport the night before so they could sleep and she said she wished they hadn't bothered as the kids were so excited they didn't sleep at all!

Thats ok, I'm sure you can hire a private jet with times just to suit you. Seriously though most Lapland flights are early morning to allow for a full itinerary on the 1st day.

When I went, the present the kids got from Santa were sleigh-bells. A true nightmare is a flight with 100+ kids ringing bells constantly.
Had a great time though. Was too old for the santa stuff but loved stuff like the Husky sled rides.

It's not in school holidays, flights and accommodation options are zilch at the weekends, probably blocked out by the likes of Thomas Cook, Thomson, etc who are charging around £6-£700pp! Ideal for those not yet in school.

How odd. I've updated the link, but here is the links to book the flights here
Make sure you book both at the same time to make sure both flights and hotel are available.

Not school holidays , hence dirt cheap. We went last year around Christmas and remember paying easily £800 per person for 5 days at Santa Claus village. Just a word of caution, there might not be much snow around Nov end and excursions are damn expensive.. but must do when you visit there
This is a really good price for this, just be wary that it is very early in the Santa season and although snow is never guaranteed it's less likely to be lying this early.

Would love to book but doesn't look like Santa is around until the 30/11/17

It's Santa Village - he is always there because this is where he lives  . Taken from their website:
You can meet Santa Claus every day of the year in the Christmas House, near our reception. Meeting Santa Claus is free! The photographer elf will take your picture so the memory of your visit will never fade away.

Previous temperatures for November/December 2016 were around -5 degrees. The only place I've truly felt cold was in Swedish Lapland in February when it was -18 and my nostrils were freezing together. I had my own down jacket and thermals though.
I've checked the weather for November and it is forecast snow from end of October and then snow and ice regularly throughout December - but I could probably take a stab at predicting the weather for then as it is notoriously difficult to predict for Lapland (I was told this when I stayed in Swedish Lapland).

I've never used it to book on this website, but I have used it to book other things abroad in Sweden and Denmark and it is fine. It has good ratings and is a secure site.

Also for anyone considering this 2 days not enough to fully enjoy the experience, this is one of these trips that unfortunately is expensive but worth every penny. Had friends that went to Santa vilage and said not all it was cracked up to be.

Thomas Cook even have 1 day (yes 1 day visit to Lapland) for . . . wait for it £396pp! That's based on 2 adults, a family of 4 is £393pp. I'm astounded they can even charge this price. A 1 night stay (albeit beginning of December, but mid-week is over £500pp).

That's actually cheap, last year prices were over £600pp for December day trip. And it still sold out for every date so clearly there is plenty of demand
