Malt is not barley, malt can be malted barley but is not barley. I drink barley water and it is not a malt. Barley is and can be an ingredient in drinks without being malted.
I saw this on the news a week or so ago. Drinking water fountains used to be quite common in parks and town centres until health and safety started to have them removed. I bet compensation claims will arrive soon enough for these too.

Yes, and in schools too, is there any actual evidence that they were removed for heath and safety reasons though? I thought it was more to do with reduced demand, as buying water in bottles became a usual thing - when i was young we used to laugh at the idea of buying bottled water, it was a quirk of the French.

Foreign tap water was definite 'non potable' it did (and still does) give you Dehli belly. I miss the good old days :poop:

The council will recoup their outlay charging extortionate amounts to go for a slash!

Waiting for the media to produce a news article showing "the locals" using them to wash and do their laundry.
And the LiveLeak video of a specific gender twerking naked over one of them.
Nothing surprises me anymore.......................except world peace.

Have to say this seems a bit of a gimmick to me, I regularly go to borough market and three fountains dotted around is nowhere near enough to cope with the amount of people there each day. However all the food stalls have agreed to sell a reuable branded empty plastic bottle for £2 instead of normal bottles of water, so that's a profit on each one because I bet most people won't remember to take it back next time they go
i do get the save the planet idea, but personally I will be taking a water bottle with me when go rather than using a fountain/tap shared with so many people. I catch enough colds etc as it is !!

When I was a lad there were public drinking fountains everywhere. So much for progress !

Yes but for beer like you were explaining with hops the barley will be malted, I work at a maltings and visit brewers all the time, they never use raw barley.
Opening post
Three water fountains have been placed around the market and each has two streams of water to drink or fill up a bottle...
