When your membership ends, do you lose all the books that you've downloaded?

This is the message that I got when I cancelled:
"Your access to Kindle Unlimited will continue until 07 November 2017, after which your card will not be charged and your membership will end. On that date, your Kindle Unlimited books will automatically be returned but your notes and highlights will be saved."

What's to stop you backing up the books elsewhere?

There's probably software to get around that. Cough cough.

yeah but if you are going down that route, your better off torrenting the books you want rather than accessing the kindle unlimited selection and then taking the DRM off. Much easier that way.

You can only get 10 books at a time which is not what I'd call unlimited' and, yes, it will delete them at the end of the trial BUT it can only do that if you switch on your internet connection to them. I tried this service for a month for free, read a couple, making sure to delete them as I went along but as I got near to the end of my trial I kept my 10 books and didn't switch on the internet connection until I had finished them.
I have just seen that other people have made a similar suggestion about putting on flight mode, different technology but the same result

Is this download limit of 10 a day, or can you download 10, delete a couple then download another couple straight away?

A maximum of 10 at any given time so, yes, you can read two, delete them from your archives and download another two straight away.
