Got the V6 for £164. According to other comments some stores are willing to price match this (you might need proof of checkout after using the code in the post). So it might be worth enquiring if you prefer a particular store. There are some reviews that don't boast confidence with this thing but that might be expected for a RRP of £299 which I can safely say I wouldn't be spending on any vacuum.
I decided to go for the V6 over the DC59 just because of the wall mount, not sure about any other finer details. All that I understand is the V6 is a new generation and different colour. I was happy to throw another £30 at it for the sake of coming with the genuine wall mount, anyway.
Picked it up from my local Tesco today and have fitted the wall mount (mine didn't seem to come with any screws or wall plugs though). It's a nice bit of kit, very light and easy to use. The bin compartment is a bit off a faff which has been pointed out on reviews anyway. Easy to change the heads, just clicks out, and good for cleaning the stairs and car too.

If the static pressure at the head is the same, I'd assume the V6 is the better bet as lower power consumption would equate to longer battery life?

ok so iv been after one for ages ....now reading both specs the motor power: ......DC59 is 350 watts. V6 (More expensive by £30) has a 200 watts. If this is the only difference the DC59 is the better one to buy because the motor is more powerful?

The dc59 / V6 / V6 animal share the same motor, body, bin, filter etc. The differences are with attachments and cleaner heads. V6 animal is the best all rounder as it has the turbine tool and the slightly wider floor head - it's essentially a rebrand of the dc59 to bring it into line with other products as Dyson have moved away from the 'DC' numbering range and now have names instead.
All parts including battery come with a two year warranty.
As with all dysons you must remember to wash the filter (apart from the cinetic range) and don't fill it past the max fill level as this will clog the cyclones and reduce performance.
This is a good deal for the price given that it's a new product IMO.
There's usually some good dyson deals around on black Friday too...but that obviously means waiting three months!
Hope this helps some people.

I know that this was a post for the DC59 but there was also the mention of the V6 and that is what I picked up tonight.
I have to say, it is an amazing little machine. I have used it and it picks up extremely well, just a couple of pushes around and it has picked up a considerable amount. The attachments are good and I already have it mounted on the wall in the utility room. For £164 it is a bargain. If anyone has any concerns, my initial reaction is to say go for it. The head on the normal cordless v6 is a lot smaller than the V6 animal and such but still, that does not bother me.
I was quite excited about picking it up which tells me that I have now become a sad, 33 year old family man who owns his own home.

The DC59 I bought came with the brush head part number 49852, It's the one shown below and it's supposed to have carbon fibre filaments to help remove fine dust from hard floors.

I recently bought the v6 and found that the head it comes with is good for carpet but really pretty terrible on hard floors. It just pushes stuff around rather than sucking it up. I've read that the soft head attachment is considerably better and just ordered that (approx £60). I wouldn't have purchased the v6 had I realised this.
I'm still not sure which head this model comes with but if it is the same as the v6 then watch out.

According to some research online, DC59 share the V6 motor too, so it is part of the V6. The different is this is good for carpet only, not on hardfloor, the addtional to normal V6 is this come with carpet motorise head.Hope this help other.

13 Sep 17#51
Luck is rarely a factor in those cases.
First of all, I'm not sure that, under EU law, a part of a vacuum cleaner can have less than a 2-year warranty (but I might be wrong). I also think these batteries are prone to failing fairly quickly if the VC is used several times a week. I had no problem finding people with the same issue on the net (the "blinking red light" syndrome), and as I said, the battery was replaced very easily (although it was through their CS in France, it might be different in the UK).
Anyway, Dyson sell premium products, so that's the kind of CS I'd expect from such a company.

You must be looking at either the Tesco website V6 model description or a description of the DC59 from another retailer e.g. amazon. The current Tesco DC59 offer description clearly states that no wall mount is included. I guess that Dyson are working with Tesco on this promotion and have decided to differentiate between the old (DC59) and the new (V6) models by subtracting some goodies from the old model, otherwise there is little point in paying the extra for the new model. It's all very confusing at first but both Tesco offers are good deals.

"Dyson has expanded its range of handheld vacuum cleaners with the Dyson DC59 formally unveiled packing the company’s powerful V6 motor"
Basically, the one at £164 is a V6, it does come with a wall mount and 2 tools, the one at £134 may say it's a V6, but it seems to be an older model which may not come with a wall mount.
Just ask yourself this
Would you but an older model which may come with an older battery of which it's lifespan might have diminished while being packed away in a box?
Go for the one at £164 or even the absolute which is even dearer, you won't be disappointed.

A few of the reviews on amazon.co.uk/Dys…TF8 put me off, it sounds like the charge won't last long enough to vacuum much more than one room. At this price, perhaps better to go for a corded machine like the Shark HV320 or a good old Henry?!

Vast majority of people (myself included) find that in actual use it's plenty. 20 mins doesn't sound alot but as it is powered on only when the trigger is pressed, it effectively lasts longer than 20 mins as you don't obviously leave it running when moving between area/rooms. Honestly if you get one you won't regret it...especially at this price. Totally different (better!) experience than a corded vacuum. Hope that makes some sort of sense?

I like the idea of cordless, especially as I could charge it during the day with my solar panels and use it in the evening. I will read up on this model further tomorrow. The Shark has a 5-year guarantee and the Dyson only 2-years, so if the battery degrades after a couple of years it could work out poor value for money.
