Looking at the memtacritics scores of this (51) and Kromaia Omega (68), isn't it better to save £2 and get to know a new game instead?

Haha. When I said that, this was £8.86 and Kromaia Omega was £2 cheaper. Now this is £6.75 and Kromaia Omega is £7.99. You are not going to save £2 anymore.

so has this improved since it came out, played it then and it was awful, dreadful handling and cheating AI. cars handled like a bus but the ai drivers turn on a dime!

Probably not - though that was always part of its charm if you liked the older titles. I loved this, personally. Well worth the £6.75 for me!

I'd like to know this, can't find a patch release list anywhere.

Despite the lacklustre reviews, I really enjoyed this.
It starts off slow but when you unlock some of the better cars and upgrades, it gets a lot better.
The load times can be slow though.

This is true - it can take about 12 hours to load, it seems, and there's a bit about three parts in where you'll get absolutely battered as you've got no upgrade tokens, but then it'll gift you a level where there'll be about 60 tokens strewn about the place.
Might go back and play this tonight, to be honest. Surprisingly decent reboot, for the price.
