It occurs to me that it would save the taxpayer money if local councils in London flew homeless people to Budapest on a deal like this and put them up in hotels there, rather than than in our capital. I suspect that even cheaper hotels could be found in less expensive parts of Hungary, thus saving the taxpayer even more.
This does look like a very cheap deal for a flight and three nights stay in a nice city for under £50, so I have added some heat.

then we could cancel their UK citizenship & leave Hungary to deal with them?

No, not at all, that was not the point!
It would just be much cheaper for people to stay in hotels in Hungary than in London - just a pragmatic solution to housing people in a very densely populated (and hence expensive) part of the world.

Or National Express them to Hull - ticks the same boxes but is a bit less of a culture shock for them.

Well, that may make sense, if that is Hull has sufficient hotel space (I don't know Hull at all).
My comment was really about how cheap hotel accommodation is in Hungary (and much of Eastern Europe) compared to the UK. London boroughs are always complaining about how much it costs them to put up homeless people in hotels, so why not think laterally and use temporary housing elsewhere (Budapest or Hull) that is much less expensive (even with flights included). A bonus would be that Hungary's (and perhaps Lincolnshire's) hotel industry would flourish whilst the London boroughs would save lots (a saving that could be passed on to the taxpayer).

Rather than this turning into a socio-economic debate around immigration (I'm sure there are plenty of other forums cartering to those discussions) can we maybe add comments of any good deals people have found? Once the site is back up and running that is

With respect, I did that in my very first comment (above: This does look like a very cheap deal for a flight and three nights stay in a nice city for under £50, so I have added some heat...), the rest has been idle chat about solving homelessness (nothing whatsoever to do with immigration - I wonder why you mentioned that?). Best wishes.

What you consider pragmatic and lateral thinking has has naturally been thought about before and dismissed as impractical and ridiculous.

Yes, what a great idea to tear kids away from schools, families from each other and erode community support networks.

The person basically would have to live in a different country. The accomodation is cheaper in Hungary for sure and the standard of living too!...Thats why i am living in the UK  Not to mention that you would create segregation within the popuation.

You will be surprised that accomodation in Hull won't be that cheap.

Theres 10 different choices of accomodation to choose from for £42.40 if you select the following
Luton to Budapest, 28th November to 30th November and select 1 adult for a room to yourself. (2 adults is only a few quid more expensive)

If you book two people as 'single travellers' is it still possible to share a room? Surely you just end up with 2 rooms??
