Lovely aromas of citrus and honey, sweet, bright, appetising. Perfectly matched with rich foods such as blue cheese, crème brûlée and pâté. Sauternes is one of the most popular sweet wines. Enjoyable not just with dessert but also, as the French do, as a chilled apéritif with savouries or pâté.

I got some bottles last time. If you let it breath for a few hours its ok. Otherwise use it for spaghetti B or Pears in red wine.

I find it drinkable. But yeah, Lamb leg or beef joint and red wine in the slow cooker for me... But I've done also done spag b. & lasagna with slow cooked stewing steak cubes in red wine too a few times... Lovely

 Title offer is for the £2.99 2015 Bordeaux but the tasting notes above are for the £6.99 2014 Sauternes.

If anyone can find a red wine with aromas of citrus and honey, let me know! Sweet spot for decent wine is £10 a bottle. At £5 a bottle it's mostly tax, bottle and shipping and the producer gets a few pence. Haven't drunk this so can't really comment but as a general rule anything red from Bordeaux under £15 a bottle is pretty rough.

Having just had a couple of glasses with my duck dinner I can say this is, IMHO, a pretty rough Bordeaux and so won't be buying this again even at the reduced price. I've travelled the Gironde and love wines from that region my favourite being Saint-Émilion although of course I wasn't expecting this to be in that category.
A good Bordeaux Supérieur is my default red wine of choice but this is not one I will buying.

I've had this a few times, it's OK for the money. Not as good as the 60 or so €1.85 bottles of red I've just brought back from France though

85 score means barely drinkable - but fine if chilled/ in sangria/ for cooking

I also bought a few bottles the last time it was 'reduced' to £2.99p Its bland and tasteless, not worth the money at all. As mentioned above open & let it breath does help a tad, but its best used for cooking !!!!!

I told my partner about this and suggested we could both go there on Saturday morning and buy six bottles each.
Partner went to Lidl today and bought six bottles at £4.99 each.
