I recently purchased this laptop last time it came down to this price and it's awesome for a mid range gaming laptop

its a good price for a powerful, well specified laptop, but if you want it for gaming you will need to spend £100 more for the one with the 1050 ti graphics card. At that price there is a lot of competition.

Wow, I have to say, that is atrocious advice. Anyone who spends 100 more just to up it to a ti want his bumps feeling. The difference between the 1050 and the 1050ti is marginal (about 10%) and there isn't a single game the that the ti can run that the base 1050 cant.

Good laptop but not well balanced for gaming, the CPU is much better than the GPU.

How do you quantify whether a CPU is 'better than' a GPU?
I can't find benchmarks for the mobile versions, but looking at some for the desktop versions of those two cards there is marginal difference. 10-15% performance increase in most ways, which means real world results of things like 114fps in CSGO with the 1050, increasing a whole 6fps to 120 with the Ti. Overwatch at 60fps on the 1050, 70fps on the Ti. So obviously the Ti is faster but not by so much that you can justifiable say the Ti is for gaming and the 1050 isn't.

I’m looking to move from my MacBook Pro to a windows machine with a GPU, but stick with something around 13-14” screen size. Can anyone recommend anything? Thanks

Gearbest have a MSI GL62M 7REX - 1252 Gaming Laptop for £741.36 gearbest.com/lap…=21
"Equipped with a 15.6 inch FHD LED display, powered by Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor, designed with HDMI output, featuring NVIDIA GeForce GTX1050 Ti GDDR5 graphics, all of this give gamers a full suite for gaming dominance and offer gamers a truly seamless gaming experience."
Seems like better value as it has a 1050 Ti although I have never used gearbest before.

128gb ssd?? Just don't understand why laptops have such small ssd. I appreciate the cloud and all that but surely 256gb should be minimum. I'd want 512gb ready.

You don't understand? It's probably got something to do with SSDs being really expensive! But I think you've possibly missed that this laptop also comes with a 1TB spinny disk, so there's no need for the cloud just yet. Presumably you would keep the OS and a few programs on the SSD, and your Steam library et al on the rotating platters of doom.

Probably due to the high price of SSDs at the moment. I'm more worried with the 4GB ram but that is easier and cheaper to fix.
