Argos were fined recently for not paying the minimum wage.
Avoid.

To eventually put them out of business and those minimum wage earners out of work? Sad, but true.
For the record, I agree that it's disgusting the way low skill workers are treated. I am one myself. Compared to workers in the third world however, making Apple products in working conditions so bad, the buildings they're in having 'suicide nets' to prevent staff from throwing themselves to their deaths, I don't believe we have it so bad. Not yet, at least.

They had staff briefings before shifts people were expected to attend that weren't paid, this was scrapped ages ago and compensation paid to all staff. The fine's just the last step, they'd taken actions to resolve this last year I think it was (my Sister works for them).

When a company or a person has been found out for its wrongdoing I don't trust them just because the government forces them to behave properly.
Argos chose to flout the minimum wage regulations to save a few quid at the expense of very poor workers on the minimum wage.
I don't deal with companies like that.
I have standards.

Well that's stupid I get paid way over the minimum and I've worked there two years :joy:
Also always been paid for meetings and to do extra courses. Staff searches are done in shift times so you're kinda paid for that.
Paid for my travel when I worked at another store to get there standards up.
Discount in Argos 10%/15%/20% Discount in Sainsbury's 10%/15% Discount in what's left of Homebase 15% Discount in habitat 25% Discount for Tu clothing think that was 15%

I didn't say that everyone at Argos is on the minimum wage.
But many of its staff are.
And Argos was fined £1,900,000 by the government for not even paying them that.
Plus it had to give staff back pay.
Horrible company which acts in a criminal manner by underpaying the poorest and most vulnerable of its staff.
