No they don't allow tethering. I briefly signed up to a similar deal with VM a few months ago but cancelled after I found out about tethering.

I was warned by O2 a good few years ago about tethering. I pleaded ignorance but the guy just laughed and told me they can tell from their end.
Interesting to know that Virgin doesn't monitor this for you but what would happen if they suddenly called you and told you to stop. You'd still be tied into their contract and couldn't move to another supplier until your contract ended. And you couldn't complain because it's in the T&C's not to tether.

Be careful with Virgin mobile. Data will just disappear. Was using less than 1gb a month with Vodafone. Paid for 2 with VM. Same phone, no settings changed and no different apps (very limited use tbh). Both VM sims went over there data allowance on the same day. Spoke to there customer support who had no idea why my bill was three times the agreed amount. Hey escalated it and they simply refunded the wrong charge. If you don't stay on top of them they will take the piss

I agree, my backup phone had 1GB data and i never hardly use it. They didn't warn me the data was about to finish and they charged something like £1 every 20kb!!!!! over. Which worked out at like £40 odd in one month. I believe apps updating automatically caused some of this. But i have no idea how it reached £40!. My bill just says DATA USE 1kb... DATA USE 23kb...etc..etc. Just tiny amounts which are charged at £1 each!. Crazy.
Despite someone above saying you get a warning message when your data is about to finish, i didn't.

Still better than ID Mobile - who took out 3 times the contracted amount when I went slightly over and then gave me a bad credit rating.

Not really an exclusive as the offers been available via my virgin media upgrade section for at least a couple months.

what they don't tell you is that this discount is tied to your broadband, so if you switch broadband providers you're stuck paying a higher price for a SIM ONLY contract
sim only should always be month to month

the only thing about Virgin is that the sim card takes around 2 week to arrive! Otherwise, service has been good and you get virgin media wifi as well which is decent on tubes and at some establishments.

Did the exact same thing, much happier with Virgin! 1 drawback only, international calls are a lot more expensive. I keep a GG sim around just in case, or use whatsapp to call

Virgin are the best of quite a bad bunch. They are not cheap though. I now use giffgaff because of the cost. I'm happy enough with Giff Gaff as I can manage everything myself - much better than relying on really useless call centre staff where it takes more often than not half an hour to speak to anyone - I resolve most of the issues I have within 5 minutes in Giffgaff.

I've been with virgin and never any problems with customer care. My last day of my 2 year iPhone / contract deal is actually today, I called a few weeks ago and they just hold me to go online as of tomorrow to pick a new tariff. Usually I'd be hounded with sales calls and at least a leaflet but nada this time. Suits me!
