Working for me too. I’m hoping they have a similar email go out allowing you to claim back from other retailers too. Trying to justify the sub..even 50% off might be a struggle.

Thanks, worked for me for a Play 1. Been waiting for it to go down to £160 for months

Glad I don't need anymore, but can absolutely recommend the Play Bar, Sub and 2x Play 1 as a solid 5.1 system that also delivers musically.

I agree. was skeptical for the price but the integration with my spotify /Itunes and other room speakers made it an all rounder

Does the new model decode or output DTS/ DTS-HD or even DDTHD?
If not it seems a bit mad to buy a soundbar for this price.

Poor form to quote oneself but the 2017 playbar and even playbase don't support HDMI sound full stop. Outrageous given the price. How can they position themselves as quality kit for audiophiles when they don't support any modern audio formats? Madness!

Because the stuff produces sound to perfection even without the support of them. The bar alone decoding DD sounds phenomenal. Pair it with a pair of Play1’s or Play5’s as surrounds and your in audiophile heaven. Can’t fault any of the Sonos kit I have for their sound quality. Highly recommended.

Have to agree.
Straight DD5.1 sounds basically as good on my 5.1 Sonos than it did on my Poxey Anthem MRX-300/Emotive XPA5 pre/XTZ floor standers/XTX bookshelfs/BK Monolith Sub.
Takes 10th of space, 1/4 of the price and most importantly infinitely less hassle.

They don't and never have positioned themselves as an audiophile brand.
It's well made, reliable and nicely optimised audio equipment, nothing more and nothing less.

Their website says 5.1 system ideal for home cinema. £2800 for 5.1 system that cant play any hdmi sound formats. Deal?

Let's address first the inaccuracy of your post and clarify Sonos and audiophile don't belong in the same sentence.
My proper listening apparatus is perhaps audiophile quality, but my Sonos? Ha, that's just good quality highly convenient play out.
As for the cost do we me favour and add up the following:
Play bar SUB 2x Play 1
Nobody is pretending Sonos is cheap, it's unequalled in wireless audio for a reason, and despite Denon/Sony and Samsung trying, they can't come close to their ecosystem.
On that front, go and draw up some comparisons of other major players in the wireless home cinema front. I'd had mine for 3 years now, never a lip-sync issue or blip... That's the value. It's rock solid in supporting SP/DIF, don't like it? Don't buy it.

That explains why they can't/ don't do HDMI audio. Bandwidth over wireless must be too low.
It's also £1800 not £2800 as I previously said.
Still £1800 is very expensive for relatively poor quality sound. I know it's not wireless but there are excellent soundbars with wireless subwoofers like Yamaha for much cheaper that support 4K passthrough and HDMI audio.
IMO it's not great for home cinema as they advertise.

It's a variety of reasons, the latency is simply too great over those interfaces, plus you have other issues to contend with, like HDCP.
There's no equal, so if you want a truly wireless configuration, it's the best there is and having both a traditional system (PMC speakers with a Rel sub) with projector in my second reception room I can absolutely vouch for the quality of the sound.
Horses for courses!
