Im a noob in the CCTV field.. does anyone know whether viewing footages away from home(e.g. At work) on this would be much slower than a hikvision/sannce/annke or some other companies.. other than the technical specs like it supports 1080p and 16 channels and frame rate etc,how does this compare to hikvision and other companies when its comes to remote viewing speed etc(assuming u have normal, fast internet when viewing)

Looking at the rear ports on picture, remote viewing is least of concerns. It is a 16 channel NVR with one network port. so as well as a hard drive a POE network switch is also most likely needed.

A separate PoE switch is preferred tbh.

Agreed, but this "NVR" has nothing, especially when it is unbranded, reliability is a risk- anyone wanting to secure their home should look to more reliable budget options from the likes of Hikvision and Dahua.

This is going to be poor.
Funny enough I'm installing a load of Dahua cameras today at home and setting up a i5 PC as a NVR.

Where can i get a decent hikvision or dahua POE NVR for a decent price other than ebay? Is aliexpress worth a punt? Many thanks!

Why not ebay? Buy from a decent company and you wont have any problems. Places like AliExpress are more risky..yes you may get for cheaper but what happens if something goes wrong? And CCTV quite often goes wrong so are you prepared to ship back to china?

Amazon now sells Hikvision UK models, if you prefer their customer service..

No 3 year warranty from Hikvision if you buy from Amazon, you just get your statutory 12 months.

I bought one for 80 quid from eBay and the remote quality is awful, around 180x240 resolution at 1 frame a second.

If you
want rock solid dependability set and forget, buy yourself a commercial system.
These are
what they are, even some of the more well respected consumer brands aren’t immune
to issues such as locking up. These are
all mostly cheaply made, especially the type you pay pennies for from China but you can take steps to make
them more reliable. Placing the DVR/NVR
in a cool place for a start, installing a fan if you can on recorders that use
3.5” Drives if they don’t have one and more importantly replace the bundled
power supplies with better quality units which I would do regardless as those
supplied will probably be generic, not safety tested and very low quality.
I know
someone with a cheap as you like £50 Floureon kit from ebay that was always
locking up, I gave him a slightly underrated (1.5A, original was 2.0A) branded
power supply to replace the original and its worked perfectly ever since, 3 years
later still going strong.

The listings on ebay are rather confusing.. u dunno whether the model ur looking at is the old or new and there are different sellers with different prices for the same model.. so u might end up getting something that couldve cost u less if u had bought from a different seller.. can u recommend some hikvision and dahua POE NVRs? Or other reliable ones. MANY THANKS!!!

If you want Hikvision look up jtwholesaler on ebay, you won't find a more genuine seller. He only sells UK products with UK stock.

I just got a 4 camera cheap set up for under £50 , ebay, and I'm really chuffed with it. A 10 quid hdd from cex and up and running - hasn't missed a beat for a month. Gone up a fiver now - ebay.co.uk/itm…649
Why get run of the mill stuff when you can get full-frame for 7 grand, camera only ? OH , yes - the ir bits on the cameras do glow in the dark. Seriously, the main use of cctv is deterent.
