Got the phone from 'Xiaomi Online Store' via Aliexpress, arrived in 10 days - not even 10 working days but 10 calender days tracked from China, very impressed, phone seems great.

Can anyone recommend a good case for this phone?

List of AliExpress payment methods< does not include PayPal so it's probably outside of their scope and not within their system. Therefore if HK Goldway insist it wasn't paid, then AliExpress mightn't be able to step in to help. Not sure though as this is the first time I've heard of a seller on AliExpress accepting PayPal. I see that PayPal is shown under "Payment" in a HK Goldway listing, but even when you click "View More" to see the full list, it's not longer there. What was the payment process like? Was it via the AliExpress website itself, after making the order and going through a standard procedure or did you get sent a separate PayPal invoice email by HK Goldway?

I ordered through Hong Kong express and paid immediately with PayPal. Just received a cancellation email about a week and a half after order saying I haven't paid (money has definitely gone.) Anyone experienced this through aliexpress before?

Brilliant phone but only thing I'm missing is the all apps button on app screen using it for three month as a spare mostly for the remote and games. One more thing cheap £1 earphones don't work on this

Am really looking forward to receiving it (fingers crossed) as my old iPhone 5 gets so hot these days it burns my hands and literally have to charge it 3 or 4 times a day.

Your link is the China Version with Global ROM installed. It does not state B20 in the network specs and also the B20 "Global Version" does not come in pink. Only in gold or black. So having pink as a selectable option also points to it being China Version. It says "Official Global ROM" over the first image but the second image suggests a custom vendor ROM, which can be the case for China Versions since the seller flashes the Global ROM themselves. Stick to a listing that states "Global Version" and has B20 in the specs.

Hi stupid question I know but how do you know if it is the Chinese version of the phone or the international version - the international version has band 20 which is why I specifically want it but am afraid some sellers may sell the Chinese version with a global firmware added...

Many people get confused with these phones redmi 4X, Note 4 etc.
This is Redmi 4X its has 5" screen.

The 'Note 4' has 5.5" FullHD better screen, faster processor.
So if you dont mind a 5.5" screen then Note 4 is better value at around £110

So will this work out of the box with all networks over here? I'm on Vodafone at the moment but likely to change at some point.

Also how does this stack up against older iphones like the 6?

How can u see what bands the phones have once you receive it? Reason I ask is I got a global before but it had Chinese rom and iv no clue how to see if I have band 20 or not any info will be fantastic thanks guys

I will never buy from aliexpress again as I have been trying since June for a refund of an item that was sent with the wrong instruction book the seller says that is the only book available although it is for a different model of the item so I am unable to operate the item also some things don't work like my phone pairs OK but does not connect for receiving calls etc. and the GPS is very intermittent with connection meaning the sat nav stops working until satellites can be connected as required.
I tried to resolve with the seller but he stopped responding, so went to CS who sent him a mail to solve the problem but he did not respond to that and I am on my 3rd try with aliexpress to get my money back and thet have just sent him another mail which he probably won't respond to. I have said I will go to my card issuer which has woke them up a bit but not sure how my card issuer will respond.

Their site is an absolute mess to communicate through.
Speaking with the seller, the official Xiaomi seller is also a nightmare -as they just keep sending me back to Ali, who doesn't work & adding stupid wee smiley faces.

I've had to have an item refunded and although it takes time you will get your money back. I've bought loads of items though so the odd one is bound to go astray.

It wasn't meant as a direct comparison; just thought it might help someone if they wanted a slightly better phone. You chose to assume it was a comparison. There's always one on these threads that lowers the tone...it's a shame, as this has been a great thread from the OP, and people have generally been trying to help each other.

well i ordered this phone from gearbest last week on wednesday and paid the extra for fast shipping. contacted them as it still hasnt been dispatched and they replied they have no more left in stock even though the website shows over 390. so i would say they are pretty unreliable. ill be cancelling my order

When I bought the Note 4A several months ago from AliExpress it was £120 plus £6 for compulsory insurance which covered you for 3 months from dispatch for non-delivery or faults.Several people on this site short-sightedly posted a way of avoiding this but I decided to pay it for reassurance and would recommend the same.Never had to use it as it came in two weeks and no problems.Its a great phone for a great price.

I think you're right, it doesn't look like it has B20. That's not a dealbreaker for me, as I'm on Plusnet which uses (I think) other bands as well as B20, but it is something to consider.

I think the 4GB/64GB is not available in the global version (b20).

Be careful about relying on your credit card co.if you want assurance if something goes wrong.There is a controversy(see Martin Lewis MSE) about the fact that if the seller uses a third party transaction processor then Section 20 of the Consumer Credit act may not apply.This is what normally makes the CCCo.equally liable as the seller.
This issue is being investigated by the financial Ombudsman but is currently up in the air.

Brilliant phones, got 2 of them, 64/4 GB Version. Ordered from fantasy seller AliExpress. Both arrived in less than 2 weeks

The 4GB/64GB version of this phone is also available from the same website for about £120-£130 (depending on what colour you go for). Does anyone know if there is much difference between the version linked and the 4GB/64GB version?

Also, that version is available from both Gearbest and Ali Express - anyone have any experience of either as being more or less reliable?

I voted hot for the price and specs, although the note 4 global is probably better value for the few more quid extra (625 processor).
Polite bit of advice though: I ordered the Note 4 on 7th July from AliExpress for £111...good price but yet to receive, and no shipping updates since 12th July. Assuming I'm gonna have to go through a long refund process.

Yes the Note 4 and Note 4x have superior specs, but not everyone wants a huge beast of a phone. The Note 4 is bigger than the Galaxy S8, iPhone 7, LG G6. Only the iPhone 7 Plus comes close to the width of the Note 4 which, for most, will make one handed use impossible.

Had this phone for a month. Has a really nice solid feel to it. Great screen, battery and camera.

I bought a black one from this seller 2 months ago then about £104.00 took about 18 days to arrive standard shipping they declared it as £20 MP3 player no duty problems. Fantastic phone would be grateful if anyone can recommend a good non reflective screen protector. I bought a well fitting glass one with bevelled edges but it's crap for sighting outdoor photos in the sun

Awesome phone ! Been using for a few months now . Nothing bad to say about it . Nippy wee phone , really great camera , good speakers . I had the UMIDIGI Z pro forma a few months , but I just hate 5.5" screens , prefer the size of this phone . That's just my preference though . Awesome spec and just look at the price now .
