Please be very careful with this game. I was bored and having never played the 1990s XCOM games, thought I would try out XCom 1 & see what the fuss is about. That evil game ended up stealing weeks of my productivity & made me love every second of it.

This happened to me too. Twice. Once on PC, once on iPad. And both of those were without the Long War add-on. I've avoided XCOM 2 thus far because I am enjoying having a life free from addiction. And free from going to sleep thinking about what moves I need my squad to make the next day!

I have to agree with the consensus here, the game is absolutely stellar. Nothing is more enjoyable than seeing all of your crew survive a mission with minimal damage, and nothing is more frustrating than having one of your best killed in action. Brilliant game though, looking forwards to the DLC now.

I think squad deaths in this are the most painful since Jools and Jops bit the dirt in Cannon Fodder.

Just got this on PS4 in the PSN sale (£12) and it's very good. Loved the last one (Enemy Unknown) on mac and ipad, but unfortunately the required spec for mac was much higher for Xcom 2 so had to get on PS4. Surprised how well it plays on console. Feels a harder game than the last one, more tactical with being concealed from enemies, so can sneak around a bit.
Exactly this. I did a mission last night and 4 out of 5 of my best guys bit the dust. It was devastating lol.

Those are the kind of games where I instantly quit and hope to god that I didn't put Ironman mode on.

Tbh it's my first play throughand not finding it easy, so may just see it through to failure and start a new campaign on easy :joy:

And if you want more XCOM 2 (which is around 30 missions), the free Long War 2 mod (deal or download link) extends this to around 120 missions.

Sorry, does this mean that you can only play it for two days? Or that you can download it for free within the next two days and keep it? If it's the former then two days isn't really enough to do much...?

The former (well, four days). That should be more than plenty to make you realise that you should buy the game.

Do you have to play part 1 to know whats going on in this part 2?

Not in the least. The storyline of XCOM 2 follows from the fail-state of the first of Firxais' XCOM games, but utimately, while decent enough, the plot isn't why most people will be coming to this game.

As the guy (or girl) said above, you don't need previous Xcom experience of any kind to enjoy this game. It has a story - but it's driven by it's strategy. The game is very macro and foresight intensive, knowing where to move your guys and when to fire, when to run, when to get a height advantage, when to make the run into melee range for a potential finisher, where your team will be most protected and thus less likely to die...
It's the kind of game where a single overstep of 1 tile can get your best soldier blown to smithereens.

such an amazing game !! I am ever tempted to play commander ironman, but I am a terrible strategist and die . Still I can't help trying.
Opening post
i'll spare you the rest of the blurb on here, as it's all on the Steam page.
however, it's worth checking your PC/Mac meets the minimum/recommended specs...
