If you have a Tivo or the older V HD box you can change it over to the new V6 box for just £20. You don't need to renew your contract and no other costs involved.
You just need to be on a TV package higher than the Player bundle which is basically their freeview.
Some people have had issues with the link saying it can't retrieve their details, however if you phone Virgin on 150 or use their webchat by logging into virginmedia.com they can do it for you.
Deal ends on 31st October.

I've just taken up this offer. The box isn't even delivered yet and I've already had an email telling me that my bill is going up by £15 per month! I though was only supposed to cost a one off £20 activation fee?? :rage:

I managed to get a new V6 box for £20 activation on chat - he said no change to contract or price. I tried to get the £3.99 price rise waived but had no luck online or through Retentions - I have a good discount for another 6 months so did not want to push it too much in case they removed that too (and cannot really cancel on this occasion as it is unlikely I would get as good a deal.

Has anyone else had issues activating, I keep getting error code c219, all cables are plugged in fine.
I've had to re-instate my tivo until an engineer can visit in a few weeks time?

Did you activate the box over the phone prior to switching the V6 box on?. Is it connected via wifi or ethernet cable? If wifi then try with the ethernet cable, if it doesn't work then prob just been unlucky and got a dodgy box.

My understanding is it uses your main broadband connection whereas the TiVo had its own dedicated cable - I am not sure how much that would affect your Internet? When it first came out, if I recall correctly, they said you needed to upgrade to 200MB internet to compensate, but I don't think anyone has mentioned that on this deal, so assume it isn't required?

Yeah the Tivo had it's own built in modem which I believe was set to a 10meg connection. My internet is 100meg and the V6 box works fine when using on-demand. I've read people who have managed to get the V6 box even though they are on 70meg connection and it works fine for them.

It'll only really affect it when you're viewing on-demand content. The live TV stuff still comes via cable but with 200mbit I think I can live with it!

Called Virgin today after receiving the £3.99 increase letter. They agreed to drop my price by £4 for 6 months then goes up by the £3.99 for the next 12. So still 1p cheaper than I'm paying. Said I still wasn't happy however with the speed of TiVo so they gave me a free V6 box and free installation :laughing:

I just tried again and am having it installed next Friday for a £20 one off charge. The guy I spoke to had no idea why there had been a problem. The only minor issue is that the modem needs to be within 3 metres of the V6 but they'll also sort that for me for free. Very pleased now - but for a communications company they don't communicate with each other very well :-)

Now that, I wasn't aware of... Just looked and can see the new box doesn't have a cable modem inside like the Tivo so it needs to be connected to the Superhub. That could cause issues as my hub is upstairs! I guess I'll have to use powerline adapters or find a way to run Ethernet to the lounge and move the hub as we have a switch upstairs that needs hardwired to the Superhub. This is already giving me a headache.
From what I read the V6 works via wif-fi but they insist it's hardwired. The 3m thing must be for engineer convenience rather than a physical restriction as Cat6 is good to 100m!

The 3m is for convenience, they insist on hardwire as it's more reliable than wifi. I'd use powerline adapters as it'll be easier.

Same here. I phoned to cancel after my £2.00 price increase in March. They waived the £2 increase, and I then I pushed them for a free V6 box as well, and a SH3 which is needed for a V6.

The box is mile faster than the Tivo box but the sound is shizzle! Use to have it on 12-14 volume on the Tivo but now I have to have it on 25 volume! Changed the volume settings on the box but no joy. They add a little cable adapter to your existing wire and then connect that to the V6 box.

From a speed point of view yes definatly. I was just dissapointed that the sound you have to have higher by around 10 notches on HD channels.

I asked the guy I spoke to to log a complaint, he said they charge for replacement superhubs etc which I have never had to pay in the past
I don't know if it was this guy or what, he disappeared off for a short while, whilst he supposedly talked to his manager
I have sent an email complaining to, as it doesn't mention anything on the ad in regards to exclusions apart from being on the player package or above

We lost 6 days broadband following "installation" of a "super"hub 3, which we didn't ask for, and which disconnects my WD MyCloud every couple of hours. We haven't been offered anything by way of compensation for their cockup. And then we got an email yesterday saying our bill will be going up by £4 per month. So I'll be cancelling services, not adding to them.

My current TiVo box is years behind Sky in terms of UI/UX. Using iPlayer or YouTube is painful and heaven forbid you press the wrong button my mistake. Moan over :angry:

they phoned me and said if I paid for sky sports at a 50% discount and pay £20 I could upgrade my Tivo. I said I wouldn't do it and they eventually said they would waive the £20 fee. I stopped sky sports after 1 month (saw the cricket though!)
The box it slick...a big step forward if you have the Tivo.

Mine was free? Phone call from Virgin delivered fitted foc. We had TiVo & V+. Be warned though the V6 box has glitches. Ended up three engineers visiting to sort out problem with picture jumping on HD channels. Tried to say it was faulty Tv but ended up settings fault on box which hubby fixed himself! The V6 is much faster more responsive than TiVo box so ok now. :raised_hand:

Defo worth upgrading the tivo to tivo v6. The v6 is how the tivo should've been from the start. Tivo is so slow. Vm still need to work in their interface though which is still a bit of mess

Agree the v6 is how it's supposed to be - speed wise that is.
I also like how I can watch recordings that are on the hard drive somewhere else in the house - like in bed :smile: - using the companion app on the phone. Guess it's limited to within the same router though
