Thank you for posting this, this looks a really good deal. I really want to try and venture out and get a mobile phone from one of these Asian shops but I am just scared that I will have so much trouble with it and that I could end up losing my money. Does anyone in the know have any advice please? £160 is about my maximum budget and I am just using a Samsung S5 which I have had for years and is so slow so I would love to treat myself. I would really appreciate any advice x

I haven't used Aliexpress in a while but they use to hold your money from the seller until you receive your item from them and happy with your purchase, if you don't recieve/not happy you usually get a refund without hassle. Bit like PayPal/eBay

I see your S5 comes with the following features (some major, some minor), that are rare / non-existent in most of these cheaper Chinese-sourced phones:
- Dust & water resistant - NFC - InfraRed port - Good(ish) main camera (most likely - you'll know) with 2K video recording - Bluetooth aptX - MHL TV-out - ANT+ support - Heart rate sensor
So if one or more of the above are especially important to you, let us know which ones, so we can suggest something that's most suited.

Thank you Crossbow, I really appreciate your help. I would really like a decent camera on a mobile phone as mine is so old and slow now (was refurbished when I bought it) and I just would really like as decent a camera as I can get. If possible I would like it to have Bluetooth and I am with ee so would really like to be able to use it with that network. If you could help at all I would be really grateful x

If you want a decent camera buy a camera no phone is as good as a real camera, with their lack of optical zooms and tiny aperture.

Ok, unfortunately the camera department is the one area 99% of these cheap ones are average at best. Of course, your expectations may not be very high, so this could be more than good enough.
What's your maximum budget btw? Do you need 2k/4K video recording, or is 1080p enough?
Also, just to confirm, nothing else in the list I posted earlier makes much of a difference to you?

Thank you so, so much. I could go to £200 if needed and I would prefer a decent video recording, but it is not a necessity. There is noting else on your list that I desperately need. Thank you again x

This J7 deal sounds reasonable if you rather not take the FarEast risk:
If you're up to it perhaps you could wipe it and put on a faster more upto date rom on the phone to speed it up a bit?

Fantastic spec phone. I have a Ulefone power with the large battery, very good phone and brand. If I was in the market for another phone I wpuld consider this. Ignore naysayers. Order from Aliexpress with confidence, use standard sshipping, so no extra taxes. Aliexpress usually add extra option of warranted. Some people be grudge this and there is a work around, but I like the idea of a UK repair option if it goes wrong, but it never has. I met someone who worked in mobile repair center, which was full with well known brand phones with faults and iPhone 5s were so many they had their own crate. I really don't understand people who knock Chinese phones, Xiaomi and Ulefone in my experience are far better spec, reliable, and cost less than the over priced sheep phones.

I got a xiaomi i like it, i had a THL before cost me £41 it was perfectly fine until i smashed it, my brother loved the screen said its the thinest he's ever seen hes going to use it on some pi project thing hes got. And that is the only problem with the Chinese phones, most out of warranty repairs are done by people who rely on having enough broken bits from similar phones or a supply of spares and they simply don't exist for the Chinese phones. Contrary to what people think they are not off the shelf same parts even the cheapest Chinese phones use custom parts in terms of the internal connectors etc they are not all the same. As Xiaomi are the 4th biggest phone company in the world tho with many users (my brother has a old one himself) i feel more confident with them about the availability of spare parts and cheap repairs.
Its strange the way attitudes are between uk and China in China technology is so cheap, over here if its not over priced we don't trust it when theres no proof that RRP has any relationship to safety or reliability.
