Pretty awesome price for this specific model of 3TB hard-drive from Toshiba. However, it's not that awesome in the grand scheme of things, as you can buy cheap non-comparable rubbish from eBay and save a few quid... which may be preferable for some people apparently. So don't take my word for it about this being an awesome price and buy based on my ??reputation?? alone, I don't want people getting all bent out of shape then suing me for misrepresenting this deal as something it isn't.

Great price. Are these rebadged Hitachi's?

This one is only £56.96: ebay.co.uk/itm…elD ... so why is this post such a hot deal?

6 month warranty... And not from Amazon.

Right. But this has 2 year warranty. Fill your boots.

Probably because mediamax use refurbed western digital drives. So b grade device. Also the Toshiba drive is faster and is ranked highly on userbenchmarks.com. Only the latest barracuda drive is faster.

I think you must be mistaken, this is a new item.

I think you need to research mediamax. They use refurbed western digital products. It is not new.

I don't care what people buy, but I get irritated when people describe things as 'pretty awesome' when they are clearly not, that is all. My comment has nothing to do with hard drives, it was just about people exagerating claims about deals, that is all.

It is a decent price for the 2nd fastest 7200rpm drive. Think you need to chill out.
Clearly you know nothing about the reliability of the Toshiba rebadged Hitachi drives, this is a pretty awesome deal

But you've gone and given an example of something else, presumably to try and demonstrate that the price isn't "pretty awesome" that has a poorer warranty and a different make.
Presumably if I posted a great deal of a quality car for a bargain price you'd post one of a cheaper car that's a different make to try and say "but it's a car too"?
I don't see a claim from the op that theirs is the cheapest 3TB drive available or cheaper than eBay or anything so I don't see why posting a link to a vaguely similar item on eBay is worthwhile?
As has been suggested, maybe posting your item as a deal might be more worthwhile?

Thanks. I'd much rather get one from eBay seller and a totally different brand... :kissing_heart:

You have to look into things a bit more. You need to think about the item in question not just the price. The retailer. Warranty. Item condition, etc. You're seeing 3TB HDD Vs 3TB HDD.

It's not the same product. It's sold on eBay. It's Mediamax. 6 months warranty.
Why not post your deal up separately and see how much heat it gets?

I bought a couple of 3tb toshs back in 2013 they cost me £75 each, prices on IT kit ain't dropping like it used to

that is because Brexit has weakened the value of the pound so prices are actually levelled off or rising on most PC gear because none of it is manufactured in England

I'm serious I read it in some article on hexus about the price of the new AMD processors and GPU's in the UK, and it makes sence cos the pound has been devalued to almost equal value to the euro and the trend is likely to continue for some time because in general the eurozone economy is attracting a lot of investment that used to go into GBP on the fourex as it seems consensus with foreign investors see the euro as slightly undervalued and it is also viewed as more stable than GBP

mate i am sure it has had an effect but we are talking about the hdd before brexit stuff as well, in fact its the first time it has gone down in price for over 3 years so well before brexit was even a term, though if brexit hadn't happened would the price have gone down further? we will never know..

Paid £69.99 each (same special offer at Amazon) for a pair of these just over a year ago. Great drives and have not missed a beat in my 24/7 Plex server.
