Have 2 of these. Don't use them much, but got both in previous £10 deals. They allow me to run games fro my PCs upstairs to the larger TVs downstairs. I've had little luck with wifi - low quality / stuttering, even though I have a 20-30Mb MB/s connection, but if you can get them wired to your network, they work really well. You can add non-steam games to Steam and run them that way. At this kind of price you can t go wrong (if you are wired up)

Your Internet speed isn't relevant - data is only transmitted within your local network.
Anyway, I love my Steam Link - a bargain at £40! Gaming aside, it's a great way to watch Sky Go on TV.

My internet connection is 150mb/s. it was my wifi that is 20/30mb/s at the worst end and it was stuttering at that speed.
It was using the Virgin Superhub 2. Not tried it since I got the Superhub 3. But loads of people have wifi issues with the Steam link.

Better at streaming games than the Nvidia Shield (I have both)

You serious? Why/how is it better than nVidia Shield?
Does Steam Link support 4K 60fps?

He's right, I have both too, the steam link is only 1080p but it's not a stuttering mess like the shield can be.

I'd decided that I would 100% get an nVidia Shield when my current media PC in the living room packs in. This has now cast doubt on that certainty. God Dammit :persevere:

If your PC is wired, (or at least you've got a very good WiFi card in your PC), then the nVidia Shield is amazing.
I stream 4k 60 games from the PC upstairs, and it's flawless. You can't tell it's being streamed, zero latency, full quality. PC is connected to 5Ghz Wifi, Shield is Ethernet.

Yeah,
Yeah, I got Ethernet wired around the house after I bought it as I had to redo all the electrics anyway.
PC upstairs, media PC, TV, nVidia Shield are/would be wired.
Handheld devices (laptops, tablets, mobiles) would be running on WiFi.

I still love my shield, and you might be luckier with gamestream than I have been. Seems some people either don't notice the stutter, which I'm very sensitive to, or they just don't get any. I even spoke to Nvidia and they were stumped, I do not find their support very helpful tbh.
I hope Android O brings some improvements, if they get around to releasing it. And on a side note, the lack of decent catchup apps is pretty poor, you only really get iPlayer, we still don't have any of the other big channels after all this time. But it's still the most powerful Android tv box I suppose (I think?)

Just to echo these comments. Love my Shield (use for Chromecast, Youtube, Amazon video etc.) but I too had issues streaming from PC over a fully wired connection. Roughly (if I remember correctly) would get a few seconds of screen freeze / lag spike about every minute or such. Definitely enough of an issue to spoil whatever I was playing. The experience though actually encouraged me to get a Playstation 4 (on the cheap from a deal on here!) for casual gaming upstairs.
Apart from checking a few settings / forum, not looked deeply into fixing this, and not tried since a couple of updates ago. Will probably give it a go again to see if improved, and even consider getting a Steam Link at some point, if this doesn't have the same issues, as would enjoy playing some of my Steam collection from the comfort of my sofa!

Yeah I ended up sending my shield back as it basically wouldn't play above 480P at barely 30 FPS (It's a shame as it's a bloody nice product but rather expensive for what is effectively an android box that in my case wouldn't stream games).
I then bought the steam link and surprise surprise works fine at 1080P over the same damn connection. Admittedly it's not fully wired but rather powerlines (relatively short distance) connected to a switch but when I run checks the speed and latency is always more than enough to run IPTV style connections.
I did have an issue with a steam update causing stuttering every few minutes but a firmware update on the powerlines seemed to sort this out. I know a lot of people question why you would get this, but things like shared screen co-op games suddenly become a whole lot easier when you can play it in your lounge without having to move your pcs around. My partner and I can stream both our PCs when we want a more casual gaming environment and we both use PS3 wireless or XBOX 360 wireless controllers to play games such as the Lego series or beat em ups. I've even given Fallout 4 a try but using a controller is a little awkward.

Use mine for streaming my VR games to the TV in the living room, as I've got 10 meter extension cables running for the Vive. £12 is a great price, but don't think I need another  (I paid £40!)

I use mine just to get access to PC and laptop on the TV which has been very useful. Excellent bit of kit!
