Do you have to have a Samsung phone with this version?

No, works with iPhone although you can't 'go live' in 360 on iPhone. It's a brilliant little camera, I've had one since launch and it's very impressive for the price

It works with Samsung and iPhone but not most other Android phones. They can make it compatible tomorrow but they won't.

Seems a bit pointless to me. Why would you not just use the Camara on your phone? Its not a action camara you can strap to your head/helmet/chest you have to carry it in your hand.

I don't think you get it. This is a 360 degree video camera. Not the same as recording in one direction such as phone.

Really? Does it spin round? Does not look like it unless you hold it on the very bottom. know its got a camera on each side but how would it do 360 degree? Maybe 350 odd but not 360?

It is true 360 degree due to very wide angle lens and intelligent stitching, from two back to back cameras. I have this, paid £249 - very impressed. Doesn't really need a phone as can be used with just an SD card and supplied software, as you don't need a viewfinder because you know it captures everything!

I've always been interested in these and this seems a good price. Just wondering if anyone has used s psvr to view videos taken from this camera. Couldn't find much on Google about this combination. Curious about how easy it is to do and what the quality is like? Thanks

I've viewed footage taken on one of these on my Vive and quality is poor. Even if it was great, it's the sort of thing you'd do once to try and then never again.
Here's some footage I took with mine so you can see how good the quality is and whether it'll work for you. If you're into Tiny Planet photography, this camera works well.
You need to watch this in the YouTube app for the 360 to work. Put on full quality and give it a few seconds for quality to set.

Thanks for the info. Very helpful. Not very interested I tiny planet photography. The 360 videos look great on photos and tablets but was really hoping to make some immersive tavel videos. Guess I'll stick to uni directional photo and video for now. Thanks

My hesitation is the fact that it's not stereoscope. I suspect that models supporting depth perception will soon become available and affordable.

Not so sure, that's a whole different kettle of fish. I wonder if anyone has tried merging two images generated with these into one stereoscopic image.

Interesting, like I said, a very different proposition to do 3D. I wonder if they're burying it because it doesn't work well, or because they want to get the sales for standard 360 first.

Not true. These 360 images are being used for loads of applications.

Back at 219.99, however, the saving is still listed on the site clearly stating "save £70 when you buy samsung 360 2017" i've contacted them about this in attempt to secure the item at this price but they've had me go into store to try phining different departments. I've been promised it at 149.99 by three employees but still no-one able to do it. I've also had two people lie to me explaining the saving is included in the price. Though it has been 219 since launch with carphone. Will update if i manage to secure the deal as i now feel obligated to follow through to save face
